Gold bar and gold ring prices today (February 17): In the domestic market, SJC gold bar and gold ring prices increased again after a sharp decline last weekend.

At the time of survey at 10:00 a.m. on February 17, 2025, the price of gold bars on the trading floors of some companies was listed as follows:
The price of SJC gold bars was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and DOJI Jewelry Group at VND87.6 - 90.6 million/tael (buy - sell), an increase of VND300,000/tael in both buying and selling compared to the closing price of last weekend.
The highest price of last week and also the record of gold bars was recorded at 90.1 - 93.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell) on February 11. Thus, each tael of SJC gold bar is still 2.5 million VND lower in both directions compared to the record peak.
Similar to SJC, other large gold companies in the market such as Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), Bao Tin Minh Chau, Phu Quy Group, and Bao Tin Manh Hai also increased the price of gold bars to 90.6 million VND/tael.
The price of SJC Mi Hong gold bars is currently trading at 89-89.8 million VND/tael for buying and selling, an increase of 20,000 VND/tael for buying and unchanged for selling compared to the closing price of yesterday's trading session. The difference between buying and selling prices is 200,000 VND.

Meanwhile, Ngoc Tham Company listed gold bars at 87.8-90 million VND/tael (buy - sell), unchanged in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

Meanwhile, the price of gold rings increased slightly. Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed the price of gold rings at VND87.6 - 90.4 million/tael (buy - sell); an increase of VND300,000/tael in both buying and selling compared to the closing price of last weekend.
DOJI Group listed the price of DOJI Hung Thinh Vuong 9999 gold ring unchanged from yesterday's closing price, with buying and selling transactions at 88.3-90.3 million VND/tael, respectively.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the listed price of gold rings is at 88.95 - 90.6 million VND/tael (buy - sell); an increase of 400,000 VND/tael for buying and an increase of 500,000 VND/tael for selling compared to the closing price at the end of last week.
Similarly, PNJ also listed an increase of 400,000 VND in buying price and 300,000 VND in selling price, currently anchoring the price of round gold rings at 88.7 - 90.5 million VND/tael and 88.95 - 90.6 million VND/tael, respectively.
Phu Quy also increased the price of round gold rings this morning by 200,000-300,000 VND, up to around 88.7 - 90.6 million VND/tael. Mi Hong also increased the price of 999 gold rings by 200,000 VND per tael, currently trading at 88.6 - 90 million VND/tael.

World gold prices started the new trading week this morning (February 17) with a significant increase, after a strong sell-off on Friday. Analysts said that the downward pressure on gold prices in the short term is strong, but the long-term upward trend remains stable.
At nearly 9:00 a.m. Vietnam time, the spot gold price in the Asian market increased by 8.2 USD/oz compared to the closing price on Friday, equivalent to an increase of 0.28%, trading at 2,891.3 USD/oz. Converted according to the USD selling rate at Vietcombank, this price is equivalent to about 89.1 million VND/tael, an increase of 200,000 VND/tael compared to the weekend.
The main driver of gold prices this week was concerns about US President Donald Trump's tariff policy. He directed the development of a plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on countries that tax imported goods from the US, causing the market to worry about an escalating trade war. Along with that, US economic data also affected gold prices, when retail sales in January 2025 fell the most in nearly two years, raising concerns about the US economic growth outlook. In that context, investors continue to closely monitor the stance of the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
Despite market expectations for a Fed rate cut this year, Fed officials have been cautious. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell stressed that inflation remains a major concern and the central bank is in no rush to change monetary policy. This has created some headwinds for gold, as higher interest rates reduce the appeal of the precious metal.
