According to records from agents in the Mekong Delta and Central Highlands provinces, the prices of DAP and NPK fertilizers increased by 2-4% compared to the end of June. Specifically, Korean DAP increased to 14,500-15,000 VND/kg, while NPK 16-16-8 fluctuated around 12,500-13,000 VND/kg. The main reason was that the prices of input materials (ammonia, sulfur, potassium) on the international market recovered in June after China tightened fertilizer exports to ensure domestic demand.
Meanwhile, pesticide prices fluctuated unevenly. Some common active ingredients such as Glyphosate and Abamectin increased slightly by 1–3%, as supplies from China and India have yet to stabilize after environmental inspections. However, domestic or generic products remained stable in price thanks to abundant supply.
Animal feed prices are also under pressure, especially those derived from imported corn and soybeans. Bran prices increased by an average of VND200-300/kg in the first week of July, mainly due to the rebound in corn prices in the US and Brazil after forecasts of low output due to dry weather. Some domestic feed producers said they were having difficulty keeping prices stable due to transportation costs and the recent slight increase in the dollar exchange rate.
Although the current increase has not created a big shock, many farmers have begun to worry about a price adjustment at the end of the third quarter - the peak of the crop growing season.
