Lowest gasoline price in 4 years: Businesses and people can breathe easier

(Baohatinh.vn) - The current gasoline price is at its lowest level in the past 4 years, helping to reduce the burden on people and businesses in Ha Tinh, creating motivation to promote better production and business.

From the afternoon of May 8, 2025, domestic gasoline prices continued to be adjusted down. Accordingly, E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by VND 380/liter and RON 95 gasoline decreased by VND 410/liter. After adjustment, the retail price of E5 RON 92 gasoline is VND 18,770/liter and RON 95 gasoline is VND 19,170/liter. Diesel oil price decreased by VND 550/liter to VND 16,800/liter, fuel oil decreased by VND 660/kg to VND 15,530/kg.

Since the beginning of 2025, RON 95 gasoline has experienced 9 increases and 10 decreases; diesel has increased 8 times, decreased 10 times and remained unchanged once. Currently, the prices of gasoline products are at their lowest level in the past 4 years.

Domestic gasoline prices fell sharply during the adjustment period on the afternoon of May 8.

According to records in Ha Tinh (in region 2 - an area far from ports, warehouses, and petroleum production facilities as prescribed in Decree 95/2021/ND-CP dated November 1, 2021 of the Government), after adjustment on the afternoon of May 8, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline is currently 19,140 VND/liter, RON 95 gasoline is 19,550 VND/liter, and diesel is 17,130 VND/liter.

In the context of the global economy still facing many challenges, the continuous sharp decline in oil prices, reaching the lowest level in the past 4 years, is a positive signal for people and production and business enterprises. The decrease in oil prices not only helps reduce the cost burden so that businesses can "breathe easier" but also creates an important motivation for units to boost production and business.

With a daily travel distance of 50 - 70km, the reduction in gas prices is a great joy for shipper Nguyen The Ngoc.

As a shipper of the Saving Delivery unit in Ha Tinh, Mr. Nguyen The Ngoc is happy that the price of gasoline has dropped below 20,000 VND/liter. Mr. Ngoc expressed: “Every day, I travel a distance of 50 - 70 km to deliver orders to customers, the cost of gasoline is about 40 - 45,000 VND. Therefore, when the price of gasoline decreases, it is a great joy for me and the shipper team because we reduce a cost, increase a little income to take care of the family".

For long-distance transport businesses, fuel costs account for 30-40% of total input costs, so the decrease in fuel prices is a great source of excitement.

Falling oil prices have helped reduce the burden on long-distance passenger transport businesses.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - representative of Phu Quy bus company (Ha Tinh city) said: "Our bus company has 10 buses running the Ha Tinh - Hanoi route and 5 small shuttle buses picking up and dropping off passengers. Previously, there was a time when the fuel cost for a bus trip on the Ha Tinh - Hanoi route was more than 5 million VND (both ways), but now, thanks to the sharp drop in fuel prices, it only costs about 4 million VND for the same distance. With 5 - 6 buses running long distances regularly, the reduction is quite significant, helping the bus company reduce financial pressure in the context of general difficulties when many other costs increase."

For construction enterprises, fuel costs for machinery and equipment are also a large item in the total project cost. Tan Hai Son Construction Joint Stock Company (Ha Tinh City) is an enterprise specializing in the construction of large projects, often having to use a large amount of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, rollers, trucks... so the reduction in gasoline prices makes all leaders and employees happy.

The decrease in gasoline prices is a positive signal for construction businesses to reduce production fuel costs.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Director of Tan Hai Son Construction Joint Stock Company shared: "At a time when oil prices were sky high, fuel costs were increased, directly affecting business efficiency and competitiveness of the enterprise. There were projects where oil costs for machinery alone accounted for 20% of total operating costs. Now that oil prices have decreased, businesses can really "breathe easier" in the context of many other "escalating" costs. This not only helps us optimize profits, increase competitiveness when bidding, but also creates conditions for reinvestment in new equipment, improving construction quality and expanding the scale of operations".

The sharp drop in oil prices brings joy to fishermen going out to sea.

Not only in the transportation or construction sector, the joy also spreads to coastal fishing villages, where fishermen make a living by fishing day and night. While quickly preparing fishing gear for a new trip, fisherman Tran Van Nam (Xuan Bac village, Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen) excitedly said: "Recent fuel price reductions have helped fishermen reduce their worries when going out to sea to catch seafood. On average, each 2-day trip, my boat uses about 300 liters of diesel. Now that the oil price has decreased further, I calculate that with about 8-10 trips to sea a month, the amount of money saved is up to several million VND compared to the beginning of the year. This helps me have more income to cover family living expenses, buy new fishing gear and, more importantly, reduce the pressure on input costs, helping us to be more confident to go out to sea and stick to the sea."

The return of gasoline prices to their lowest level in the past 4 years has been an important lever, adding motivation for businesses and people to develop production and business. This shows that reasonable gasoline price management policies can create positive impacts, contributing to promoting economic growth in the coming period.
