Overview of the High-level International Conference on “ Peaceful settlement of the Palestine issue and implementation of the two-state solution”.

On July 28, the High-Level International Conference on “Peaceful Resolution of the Palestine Question and Implementation of the Two-State Solution” officially opened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, co-chaired by the Foreign Ministers of France and Saudi Arabia.

The conference attracted the attention and participation of high-level representatives from nearly 130 countries and international organizations, focusing on efforts to promote the implementation of the two-state solution and build sustainable peace in the Middle East.

During the first two working days, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang, and more than 60 ministers and senior officials from various countries delivered speeches emphasizing the significance of this Conference, hoping that it would be a milestone and new momentum to restart the dialogue process towards peaceful coexistence between the two states of Israel and Palestine.

Delegates called on the international community to support the development of a roadmap for the establishment of an independent Palestinian State while ensuring security for Israel; affirming that recognition of the State of Palestine is a key factor for peace and stability in the Middle East region.

In the context of the prolonged conflict and alarming humanitarian crisis in Gaza, most delegates called on the parties concerned to exercise restraint and immediately end unilateral actions and violations of international law, which hinder the prospect of realizing the two-state solution.

Previously, on July 23, at the Open Debate of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Middle East and Palestine, Ambassador Do Hung Viet also expressed deep concern about the prolonged conflict, acts of violence against women and children, and the increasingly serious famine in the Gaza Strip, calling on all parties to cease fire, release hostages, and oppose unilateral actions that hinder the efforts of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to provide relief to affected civilians.

The Ambassador affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance in supporting the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the implementation of the two-state solution.

On the afternoon of July 28, the two co-chairs of the Conference, along with 17 countries and a group of countries coordinating thematic discussion groups, issued the “New York Joint Statement on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestine Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution”, which focused on proposing solutions to promote ceasefire, humanitarian relief and planning for the reconstruction of Gaza; maintaining efforts to realize the two-state solution towards the formation of a sovereign Palestinian State with economic capacity to coexist peacefully alongside the State of Israel, contributing to ensuring security, stability and cooperation in the Middle East region.
