Regarding the 8.5-magnitude earthquake in Kamchatka, Russia, and tsunami warnings along the Pacific coast of Japan, Hawaii, and parts of Alaska (USA), Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that according to information from Vietnamese representative agencies in Russia, Japan, and the US, the situation of the Vietnamese community in the affected areas is currently safe.

Immediately after receiving information about the earthquake and tsunami warning from local authorities, Vietnamese representative agencies in Russia, Japan and the US proactively contacted Vietnamese community leaders to check the situation of citizens, advised citizens to immediately move to safe areas, regularly monitor news, and comply with recommendations and safety measures of local authorities.

Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Vietnamese representative agencies in foreign countries continue to maintain emergency response mechanisms until the tsunami warning ends, closely monitor information and safety measures implemented by local authorities, and maintain contact with Vietnamese community contacts in foreign countries, promptly advise citizens on prevention and support citizens when necessary.

Regarding the video clip on social media related to a group of foreign citizens residing illegally opposing Vietnamese authorities, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated:

"Vietnam's consistent policy is to always facilitate foreigners entering, exiting and residing in Vietnam to study, work, invest, explore the market and travel, thereby contributing to Vietnam's socio-economic development and people-to-people exchange. As in other countries, foreigners entering, exiting and residing in Vietnam must fully comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law.

Through discussions with the authorities, we learned that these are foreign citizens residing illegally in Vietnam, violating Vietnamese law. Vietnamese law enforcement agencies have resolutely handled the case in accordance with Vietnamese and international law."
