Ministry of Foreign Affairs receives copy of Letter of Credentials appointing Indian Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of November 3, in Hanoi, Director of the Department of State Protocol and Foreign Interpretation Pham Binh Dam received Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa to present a copy of the Letter of Credentials appointing the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the reception, Director of the Department of State Protocol and Foreign Interpretation Pham Binh Dam congratulated Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa on his appointment as Indian Ambassador to Vietnam and believed that during his term in Vietnam, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa will promote his role as a bridge, contributing to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The Director emphasized that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over the past 50 years has always maintained a foundation of friendship and mutual trust. Cooperation in many fields has achieved positive results. Vietnam wishes to share strategic views and interests with India, as well as develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries, while contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia- Pacific as well as in the world.

Expressing his honor to be appointed as Ambassador to Vietnam, and appreciating Vietnam's socio -economic development achievements, increasing position and role in the international arena, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa affirmed that he will do his best to contribute to developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between India and Vietnam in a practical and effective manner, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa has been with the Ministry of External Affairs of India since 2002. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Captain rank) in New Delhi. He has served in the Embassies of India in South Korea, Nepal and Japan. His most recent overseas posting was as Deputy Ambassador to Israel. Mr. Sherpa is fluent in English, Hindi, Nepali and can speak Korean.
