Vietnam promotes increasingly deeper cooperation with Laos and India

Continuing the series of bilateral activities on the occasion of participating in the high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 27, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had a meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

At a meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his deep gratitude for the Lao leaders' letter of condolences and sympathy for the difficulties and losses caused by the recent natural disasters and floods in the northern and central provinces.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries, affirming the desire to closely coordinate to promote Vietnam-Laos cooperation to become increasingly in-depth and substantive, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries and contributing to building a united and strong ASEAN Community.

Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane once again congratulated Minister Le Hoai Trung on his new position. Expressing his delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in recent times, the Lao Foreign Minister affirmed that he always values ​​the traditional Vietnam-Laos relationship and hopes that Vietnam will continue to accompany and support Laos in the process of national development.

The two Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate closely to promote the effective implementation of agreements between the two countries' leaders, prepare well for upcoming important high-level foreign affairs activities, promote comprehensive cooperation in all fields, especially economics , trade, and investment; create breakthroughs in infrastructure connectivity, human resource development, digital transformation, and green transformation.

Minister Le Hoai Trung said Vietnam is ready to share experiences and support Laos in socio-economic development and implementing sustainable development goals.

Regarding cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries, the two Ministers agreed to promote the effective implementation of the signed Cooperation Agreement, organize political consultations at the Foreign Minister level; maintain political consultation mechanisms, enhance experience exchange in economic diplomacy, diplomacy for development, exchange activities; exchange of women's work between the two Foreign Ministries of Vietnam and Laos; train officials, contributing to deepening and sustaining the relationship between the two countries on all three pillars of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.

At a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam values ​​its traditional friendship with India, supports and welcomes India to play an important and active role in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

The Minister stressed that the two countries have many common interests and similarities in history and culture, affirming that Vietnam has and will continue to participate in many important initiatives proposed by India.

In the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the active and effective cooperation that India has provided for Vietnam, and suggested that India continue to maintain and further strengthen multifaceted cooperation, especially in science and technology, to contribute to supporting Vietnam in achieving important goals, especially the goal of sustainable development.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed his admiration for Vietnam's past struggle for national independence and unification and was impressed by the socio-economic achievements of Vietnam today. He affirmed that India has a special relationship with Vietnam and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in various fields, including the preservation of cultural heritages such as the My Son Sanctuary.

Regarding regional cooperation, the Indian Foreign Minister appreciated Vietnam's active coordination with ASEAN countries to promote the review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA).

Discussing measures to promote cooperation in the coming time, the two Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate to promote high-level visits and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the 19th Vietnam-India Intergovernmental Committee on Science, Technology, Culture and Education, to review and orient cooperation in all aspects./.
