Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung receives Foreign Ministers of Laos and India

According to a VNA reporter in Kuala Lumpur, continuing a series of bilateral activities on the occasion of participating in the high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 27, Party Central Committee Secretary and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung had a meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During his meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his deep gratitude for the Lao leaders' letter of condolences and sympathy regarding the difficulties and losses caused by the recent natural disasters and floods in the northern and central provinces. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the positive progress in bilateral relations, affirming his desire for close cooperation to further deepen and strengthen Vietnam-Lao cooperation, serving the interests of the people of both countries and contributing to building a united and strong ASEAN Community.

Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane once again congratulated Minister Le Hoai Trung on assuming his new position. Expressing his delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in recent times, the Lao Foreign Minister affirmed that he always values ​​the traditional Vietnam-Laos relationship and hopes that Vietnam will continue to accompany and support Laos in its national development process.

The two ministers agreed to continue coordinating closely to promote the effective implementation of agreements between the leaders of the two countries, to prepare well for important upcoming high-level diplomatic activities, and to promote comprehensive cooperation in all fields, especially economics , trade, and investment; creating breakthroughs in infrastructure connectivity, human resource development, digital transformation, and green transformation. Minister Le Hoai Trung stated that Vietnam is ready to share its experience and support Laos in socio-economic development and the implementation of sustainable development goals.

Regarding cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the two Ministers agreed to promote the effective implementation of the signed cooperation agreement, organize political consultations at the Foreign Minister level; maintain political consultation mechanisms, strengthen the exchange of experience on economic diplomacy, development diplomacy, and exchange activities; facilitate exchanges between the women's groups of the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Foreign Affairs; and train officials, contributing to deepening and strengthening the bilateral relationship across all three pillars of foreign policy: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.

During his meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam values ​​its traditional friendship with India and supports and welcomes India's important and active role in the Asia-Pacific region and the world. The Minister emphasized that the two countries share many common interests and similarities in history and culture, and affirmed that Vietnam has and will continue to participate in many important initiatives proposed by India. In the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the positive and effective cooperation that India has provided to Vietnam, and requested India to continue maintaining and further strengthening multifaceted cooperation, especially in science and technology, to contribute to supporting Vietnam in achieving its important goals, particularly the goal of sustainable development.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed admiration for Vietnam's history of struggle for national independence and reunification, and was impressed by Vietnam's current socio-economic development achievements. He affirmed that India has a special relationship with Vietnam and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in various fields, including the preservation of cultural heritage sites such as the My Son Sanctuary.

Regarding regional cooperation, the Indian Foreign Minister highly appreciated Vietnam's active coordination with ASEAN countries in promoting the review of the ASEAN-India Goods Trade Agreement (AITIGA).

Discussing measures to promote cooperation in the coming period, the two Ministers agreed to continue coordinating to promote high-level visits and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the 19th Vietnam-India Intergovernmental Committee on Science, Technology and Culture, Education, to review and guide cooperation in all aspects.
