Since 2020, Thuan An commune has had no poor households. According to Nguyen Tran Luan, Chairman of the Thuan An Commune Farmers' Association, maintaining sustainable poverty eradication achievements is not only about assisting disadvantaged households to improve their lives, but also about creating financial leverage so that all members can become self-sufficient economically and promote the movement of successful production and business. Recognizing this, the Association has paid special attention to managing loan capital, especially preferential credit funds.
In 2025, the Farmers' Association of Thuan An commune effectively managed a large amount of social policy credit capital, creating opportunities for thousands of households to have stable jobs, invest in economic development, and increase income. Specifically, the Association successfully managed loan capital at 24 savings and loan groups of the Gia Lam Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding loan balance of VND 73.178 billion, for 1,079 borrowing households. This is an impressive figure, demonstrating the Association's strong bridging role in bringing preferential capital to the right target groups, effectively serving the development of production and business, especially for the near-poor, those with difficult circumstances, and other policy beneficiaries.
In addition, the Farmers' Association of the commune has strengthened management and effectively utilized capital from the Farmers' Support Fund at all levels. To date, the total outstanding loan balance of the Farmers' Support Fund managed by the Association has reached 8.7 billion VND, providing loans to 178 households. Notably, this year, the Association has implemented 7 new projects, with a total amount of 5.25 billion VND, disbursed from the City's Farmers' Support Fund to 105 member households, guiding members to develop concentrated, interconnected economic models, ensuring efficient use of capital and creating sustainable value.
Support from preferential capital sources has strongly promoted the movement of "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty." Among them, the example of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, a member of To Khe village, stands out. He was honored by the Hanoi People's Committee as an outstanding farmer of the capital city in 2025. Mr. Thanh's success and that of over 2,000 other production and business households clearly demonstrate the effective transformation and development of the agricultural economy in Thuan An.
Along with promoting economic development, the solidarity and sharing among farmers in Thuan An are the "glue" that creates sustainability in the work of sustainable poverty eradication. The "Farmers' Solidarity and Sharing" campaign, implemented by the Thuan An Farmers' Association, has been carried out vigorously and achieved impressive results. Chairman of the Thuan An Farmers' Association, Nguyen Tran Luan, shared: The Association has actively and proactively coordinated with relevant departments and organizations in the commune to promote and raise funds for the "For the Poor" Fund in 2025, achieving 748.989 million VND. This amount is the most important resource, allocated and used directly for social welfare support activities for people in difficult circumstances.
The effectiveness of this fund is clearly demonstrated through its support for the construction and repair of 13 solidarity houses (including 9 new houses and 4 repaired houses), totaling 688 million VND. Building and repairing houses for disadvantaged households is not only a material support but also a great source of moral encouragement, helping poor and disadvantaged households have a solid "home," thereby enabling them to work and produce with peace of mind, and rise out of poverty sustainably.
Notably, the Thuận An Commune Farmers' Association regularly and promptly provides support to disadvantaged members through diverse forms. During the year, the Association supported 6 production development projects worth a total of 66 million VND for disadvantaged member families to create livelihoods and help members become self-reliant instead of relying solely on subsidies; coordinated with the Fatherland Front and other organizations to visit and present 72 gifts worth 36 million VND to disadvantaged households on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd; presented 45 gifts worth a total of 22.5 million VND to disadvantaged children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival; transferred 3 gifts from the city to members with particularly difficult circumstances, worth 15 million VND; and provided support to 17 particularly disadvantaged cases with a total amount of 20 million VND…
At the Solidarity Day event in residential areas, the Farmers' Association of the commune also presented gifts to near-poor households and households with particularly difficult circumstances in 46 villages and residential areas, totaling 32.2 million VND.
These figures clearly demonstrate the spirit of "unity and sharing" among the farmers of Thuan An, ensuring that no one is left behind on the path of socio-economic development.
Farmers join forces to create a new rural landscape.
In 2025, the Farmers' Association of Thuan An commune actively participated in environmental protection: constructing and installing a "Clean Field" with a total area of 7 hectares, aiming to promote the application of clean, sustainable, and food-safe farming processes; and installing three "Farmers' Tree Rows" with 175 trees of various types such as black star, pink trumpet, and golden shower trees along a 1,700m stretch of road, worth 102 million VND. These rows of trees not only provide shade and enhance the landscape but also symbolize the growth and development of the movement.
The grassroots branches also effectively maintained 37 "Farmers' Self-Managed" road sections with a total length of 966m in villages, hamlets, and residential areas. The commune's Farmers' Association and 37 grassroots branches organized three large-scale environmental sanitation campaigns to celebrate important local and national events, attracting 3,268 participants. These activities have been recognized and replicated by the government and the people, creating a civilized, clean, and beautiful lifestyle in the community.
In 2025, the Association will admit 116 new members, recommend 2 outstanding farmer members for Party membership; establish 7 new professional farmer groups with 105 members, 1 professional farmer branch with 16 members, and 2 cooperatives with 11 members. The formation of these organizations is a strategic step, shifting members from activities based on administrative boundaries to activities based on professions, linking individual interests with collective interests, creating value chains and promoting a more sustainable economy.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuan An commune, Nguyen Van Dat, highly appreciated the achievements of the commune's Farmers' Association and provided further information: In 2025, the Thuan An commune Farmers' Association was evaluated by the Hanoi City Farmers' Association as a unit that excellently completed its tasks; the Hanoi City People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Commendation to the collective of the commune's Farmers' Association at the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the Hanoi City Farmers' Association awarded 61 individuals participating in the parade at the National Day celebration on September 2nd, and one individual with outstanding achievements in the emulation campaign to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee…
