On the evening of October 28th, the Ministry of Health announced that it had sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security regarding strengthening security and safety at hospitals.

According to the Ministry of Health , from the beginning of 2025 to the present, reports from hospitals have recorded 6 cases of healthcare workers being assaulted while performing their duties of caring for and treating patients.

Notably, the incidents have tended to become increasingly serious, with the incident on October 23, 2025, at the Neonatal Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, where a patient's family member attacked nurses, attracting particular attention from the press, media, and public opinion.

These assaults not only seriously affect hospital security and safety but also directly threaten the health and lives of medical staff, patients, and their families; at the same time, they cause public outrage, psychological trauma, and a decline in the morale of the medical staff.

To enhance security and order in the coming period and effectively implement the Coordination Regulation No. 03/QCPH-BCA-BYT dated November 18, 2024, between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health in ensuring security, order, and the health sector, the Ministry of Health has sent a document requesting the Ministry of Public Security to direct police units and localities to coordinate and support hospitals in ensuring security and safety.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Security has directed police units and localities to strengthen coordination and support for hospitals in their areas in deploying forces and resources; applying technical solutions, managing, operating, and effectively utilizing security surveillance camera systems and alarm systems connected to the nearest police station to proactively prevent, promptly detect, and handle acts that disrupt security and order at hospitals.

Police units and local authorities, in coordination with hospitals, organize drills on various scenarios and plans to protect security and safety in medical examination and treatment areas, especially in high-risk departments and wards (such as emergency, intensive care, and neonatal intensive care).

In addition, the police in various units and localities are closely coordinating with hospitals, local authorities, and relevant agencies in verifying, investigating, and strictly handling individuals who assault or threaten medical staff while they are on duty, in order to increase deterrence and protect the legitimate rights and interests of medical staff.

The Ministry of Health requests the Ministry of Public Security to pay attention to and direct the implementation of the above-mentioned contents in order to enhance security and safety for patients, medical staff, and the hospital environment nationwide.
