Reducing waste in military environments

That is the purpose of the circular economy workshop for sustainable development and instructions on how to compost organic fertilizers to take care of trees organized by Brigade 171, Naval Region 2 in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment on May 20 in Vung Tau City.

Currently, it is estimated that in one day, officers and soldiers of Brigade 171 collect more than 300kg of waste from leaves and leftover food at the unit, making waste treatment difficult.

Therefore, Brigade 171 has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment to directly guide on how to compost organic fertilizer safely and effectively, helping to improve organic waste, especially leaf waste, to utilize and regenerate it into organic fertilizer.

At the program, Master Huynh Tan Dat, Lecturer at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, instructed officers and soldiers of Brigade 171 on a number of contents such as: Approach and legal basis of circular economy ; current circular economy models; journey of linear economy; benefits of circular economy.

Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment and Biofix Fresh Technical Trading Company Limited donated biofertilizers and vegetable, root and fruit seeds to the Brigade.

The advantages of this model are reducing at the source to prevent and avoid waste generation, reusing waste, recycling waste to create quality products that can be sold on the market, using waste as fuel to recover heat, and finally burying waste when it cannot be recycled.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment presented the Brigade with 400kg of biofertilizer and various vegetable, root and fruit seeds; Biofix Fresh Technical Trading Company Limited presented the Brigade with 1 year of biofertilizer use.
