Despite intensified awareness campaigns, traffic violations by students and young people continue to occur. In the first four months of 2026, the province recorded 12 traffic accidents involving students and young people. In April alone, authorities detected over 50 violations, with common offenses including driving underage, not wearing helmets, speeding, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
With the spirit of "early prevention, education from the root," the Traffic Police Department of Ca Mau Provincial Police has innovated the content and form of disseminating traffic safety laws in schools, making them easy to understand and linking theory with practice to help students improve their skills and awareness of complying with traffic laws. This contributes to the formation of a safe and civilized traffic culture right from the school level.

Recently, an extracurricular program titled "Promoting and Guiding Safe Driving Skills" was held at Ganh Hao High School (Ganh Hao commune) with over 1,000 teachers and students participating. The students were instructed on how to wear helmets correctly, stay in the correct lane, obey traffic signals, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving; they also practiced handling real-life situations.
The highlight of the program is its focus on building a traffic culture in schools, not only in obeying the law but also in fostering civilized behavior such as showing consideration, avoiding pushing and shoving, refraining from speeding and reckless driving, and being ready to assist those in need on the road.
Officers from the Traffic Police Department directly instructed the students on safe driving skills.
The awareness campaign was not only implemented at Ganh Hao High School, but also widely carried out at many schools throughout the province, such as Le Van Dau High School, Song Doc High School, etc., with thousands of students participating.
In addition to awareness campaigns, many effective models such as "Safe Traffic at School Gates" have been maintained and expanded; hundreds of helmets have been donated to students to raise their awareness of complying with traffic laws.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Toan, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, emphasized: “Legal education on traffic safety for students needs to be carried out regularly and continuously with synchronized coordination between the police force, schools, and families. When students raise their awareness of voluntarily complying with the law, they not only protect themselves but also contribute to spreading a culture of safe traffic in the community.”
