Preserving Quang Nam province for a hundred years.

It's not exactly a communal house, but it's a place where people from Quang Nam who live far from home can return. In the center of Phan Thiet, there's the only one, the " Quang Nam Mutual Aid Association ," located at 7 Phan Dinh Phung Street (Phan Thiet City). "Every year, during the Thanh Minh festival, there's a ceremony at the Quang Nam Mutual Aid Association beforehand. In particular, every year, people from Quang Nam who work far away, or wherever they live, come back to light incense and remember the contributions of their ancestors who built this place."

**The pioneering land of our ancestors.**

The people of Quang Nam are hardworking and diligent, which is why this was the first place where Quang Nam migrants set foot in Phan Thiet to clear land and build villages. Though far from home, the spirit of their homeland remained strong in the hearts of each of these Quang Nam natives in this foreign land. In 1933, Mr. Phan Bo, Mr. Huynh Dinh, Mr. Nguyen Hien, and Mr. Dang Thuan initiated the construction, and Mr. Huynh Duy Dat was in charge of supervising, of the "Quang Nam Dong Chau Hoi" (Quang Nam Compatriots Association) on a 511.5 m2 plot of land in Duc Nghia hamlet, Chau Thanh commune, Phan Thiet (now 7 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Duc Nghia Ward, Phan Thiet City). The "Quang Nam Dong Chau Hoi" is the meeting hall for people from Quang Nam. Thus, to this day, among all the hometown associations in Binh Thuan , only the Quang Nam association has a meeting hall.

Light incense to commemorate ancestors.

Ms. Dang Ba Huyen Uyen, Vice President, said: "The meeting hall was renovated last year. Although small, it was considered quite grand back then by those who came before. The main hall is dedicated to the ancestors and later generations, with two ancient couplets written in the Han script style. The left hall is dedicated to the four founders of the meeting hall. The right hall is dedicated to the people of Quang Nam in the past. The 'Quang Nam Dong Chau Hoi' meeting hall, also known as the 'Quang Nam Dong Chau Tuong Te Hoi', is a gathering place for people of Quang Nam origin to remember their grandparents and ancestors who settled here; a place where those far from home meet and share information about their homeland; and a place to connect the cultural values of the 'Five Phoenixes Soaring Together' region; a place where community spirit and neighborly love are strengthened through mutual support in life."

Mr. Nhi said: "In the past, no matter what, whenever it was the anniversary of the death, I had to bring my father here to light incense and meet with relatives from the same village. After my father passed away, I continued this tradition. It's not just about lighting incense in remembrance, but also an opportunity to visit each other, support and share with each other, and remember our homeland."

Although not a village communal house, every year during the spring and autumn festivals, the descendants of Quang Nam who once lived in Duc Nghia still prepare offerings to present, firstly to commemorate their ancestors, and secondly to preserve the spirit of their homeland. During the Thanh Minh festival, nearly ten generations of people from Quang Nam who have settled and established themselves in Duc Nghia - Phan Thiet gather at the meeting hall to respectfully offer incense to their ancestors, inquire about their well-being, and offer blessings . At the same time , they annually provide scholarships for children throughout Phan Thiet city with the sole purpose of encouraging and motivating the studious spirit of the people of Quang Nam .

And here, as one generation passes away, another generation of descendants follows, offering incense and paying respects. The "Quang Nam Đồng Châu Tương Tế Hội" (Quang Nam Compatriots' Mutual Aid Association) may not have many gongs and drums, but the flame of camaraderie reminds those far from home to preserve traditional cultural values, beliefs, and cuisine ... Intelligent, diligent , hardworking, and resilient, and no matter where they go, no matter how far they wander, they always remember their roots – that's what the "Quang Nam Đồng Châu Tương Tế Hội" embodies. It has been preserved for over a hundred years, right up to the present day.
