Young people flew from Ho Chi Minh City at 2am to take pictures of an old wall in Hanoi.

(Dan Tri) - The hip hop style wall on Au Trieu Street ( Hanoi ) is "causing a fever", making many people willing to wait several hours to take pictures.

Because he wanted to go to the place to check out the place that many young people are interested in, Bui Le Vu (born in 1996) took a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. But when he arrived, he did not take any photos as souvenirs.

The place that made Vu curious was the graffiti wall with the orange and black letters "SW", located at 40 Au Trieu Street, Hanoi. The black canopy with the simple letter "leninn" printed on it added a highlight to this place.

Waited for almost an hour, went at midnight to "be less embarrassed"

"I don't see any wall in Ho Chi Minh City that has achieved the same level of "hotness". When I arrived, what surprised me the most was that young people (mostly women) were very willing to take pictures with the wall, even though there were quite a lot of people that day and there was a lot of jostling," Le Vu shared with Dan Tri reporter.

Having traveled more than 1,500km, Le Vu feels that the "feverish" location is not too prominent, like other graffiti paintings. According to him, this place attracts young people partly because of the surrounding landscape. The old architecture combined with the modernity of graffiti creates a unique space.

Besides, Vu believes that the "fascinating" photo editing skills of some content creators on social networking platforms are also an important factor that makes this place noticeable.

Vu's journey through the wall ended with a 30,000 VND cup of milk coffee. He did not take any photos.

Vu said: "I see that if you want to take a photo, you have to wait about 30-40 minutes."

Not taking as much time to travel as Le Vu, Ngoc Anh (born 2002, Hanoi) only needed to ride a motorbike 5km to reach the old wall. Her purpose was to take "cool" photos. Because the theme was hip hop style, she chose a dusty outfit with cargo pants and a tube top with an open waist to show off her figure.

"I saw many people sharing photos taken in Leninn so I also invited my friend to try taking photos. Before going, I mentally determined that I would have to wait a long time. However, that problem was not important. Because waiting an hour in Hanoi's autumn weather is quite comfortable.

On weekends, I am also free. But what worries me most is that if the crowd becomes disorderly, it will affect the traffic on the street," Ngoc Anh said.

To avoid waiting too long, Khanh Ly Ta (Hanoi) decided to take photos with her friends at 2am. However, there were still some young people coming to take photos at this time. She only waited 10 minutes to get in the frame.

Ly shared: "The reason I go out at night is to avoid crowds. More importantly, I'm also shy. Therefore, going out at this time helps me feel better."

Many controversies surround the wall

Many people mistakenly think that this graffiti wall belongs to a coffee shop. In fact, this is not true. According to Dan Tri reporter's investigation, this is just opposite a store selling clothes, accessories and skateboards. The word "leninn" printed on the canopy partly proves the connection between the "hot" location and this fashion store.

The factor that confuses many people comes from the neatly arranged plastic tables and chairs in front of the wall. This is the business model of a nearby coffee and beverage shop owner. Drinks cost 20,000 VND or more. Most young people think that the prices of drinks are not expensive, and the shop owner is also enthusiastic about letting customers take pictures.

If someone comes first, they can sit and drink at the table by the wall, those who come late will have to wait their turn. That is why young people have to stand in long lines.

In addition to the above confusion, many people also argue about the location mentioned in the famous rap song Thu Do Cypher. "Waking up early in the morning, passing by Lenin... drinking filter coffee, watching... skateboarding, hip hop in the capital is never out of fashion" is a popular rap line in the song.

This rap was used by young people when posting videos and pictures taken at the wall on Au Trieu street. From there, controversy broke out. Because some people commented, this place became popular thanks to the rap.

However, the phrase "through Lenin" mentioned by the author does not refer to the "Leninn" wall. The exact location mentioned is Lenin Park located on Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

"As a skateboarding enthusiast who often goes to Lenin Park every weekend to have fun, I think this is the right place in the rap song. How can you skateboard while standing at that wall?", Dang Pham (born 2002, Hanoi) expressed.

Meanwhile, some young people said that they "knew" that the graffiti wall was not the location mentioned in the song. Because the names of the locations "rhymed" with each other, they were still able to "follow" the trend.
