The Thai people in Son La have a long history of development and an extremely unique and rich culture, notably the types of folk performing arts; social customs and beliefs; language, writing; traditional festivals, such as: Thai Xoe art; ancient writing of the Thai people; Xen Lau No ceremony of the Black Thai people; Het Cha ceremony, Goi Dau ritual, Kin Pang Then ritual, Praying for rain festival, Tet Xip Xi ritual of the White Thai people. In particular, "Thai Xoe art" has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
As a person with a deep love for Thai culture, Ms. Lo Mai Cuong, Chau Co village, Chieng Coi ward, has contributed a lot to the village's cultural movement and led the activities of the Thai Cultural Club of Chau Co village. Ms. Cuong shared: We are very proud that the traditional culture of the Thai people is still preserved and promoted, and that all levels and sectors are interested in implementing conservation solutions. We feel that we must be more responsible in teaching the younger generation, together contributing to preserving the traditional values of the nation.
In 8 recognized cultural heritages. Each heritage is associated with a traditional cultural form, carrying stories about culture, history, customs, beliefs and has profound humanistic values. The ancient writing of the Thai people is a testament to the long-standing treasure of folk knowledge; the Thai Xoe art is preserved with 6 ancient Xoe dances, associated with daily life, labor, production, demonstrating community cohesion; traditional festivals and rituals both reflect spiritual life and contain educational values, gratitude, beautiful lifestyle and village solidarity.
Established many years ago, the Thai ethnic musical instrument group in Pan sub-district, Thuan Chau commune is a gathering place for the elderly who share a passion for Thai culture, especially traditional musical instruments of the Thai people. Mr. Luong Van Mut, a member of the musical instrument group, said: We regularly practice, participate in performances, accompany the performances of the village's art troupe, and teach children how to play the đàn tính Tàu, đàn nhi, and khen be. We hope that the traditional musical instruments of the nation will be continued and preserved by the younger generation, because they play an important role in the spiritual life of the Thai people.
Over the years, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented many conservation solutions, from research, collection, documentation, heritage value assessment to issuing specific programs and projects. Competitions, performances, festivals, cultural and tourism festivals, restoration and performance of festivals have contributed to promoting heritage, creating opportunities for artisans to exchange, teach and for the community to participate in conservation. The Department also coordinates to develop tourism products associated with Thai cultural identity, bringing heritage closer to tourists.

In particular, organizing competitions, performances, festivals, cultural and tourism festivals; recreating and performing festivals to introduce and promote cultural heritage to domestic and international friends; so that generations of artisans can exchange, learn, and encourage people to preserve and promote cultural heritage. At the same time, coordinating to build and develop tourism products associated with promoting national cultural identity.
With the attention of the government, the cooperation of the community and the efforts of the people, the unique cultural heritages of the Thai ethnic group in Son La are not only preserved sustainably but also become valuable resources for tourism development, increasing income, promoting socio-economic development, and at the same time contributing to spreading the cultural values of Son La to domestic and international friends.
