On the afternoon of August 1, Mr. Phan Thanh Trinh (born in 1984, residing in An Hai ward, Da Nang city), an officer of the Sea Tourism Order Management Team under the Management Board of Son Tra peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, confirmed that he had helped an Australian tourist find a lost diamond ring at Cua Dai beach.

Previously, on the evening of July 31, an article was posted on a group of foreigners living in Vietnam, sharing the story of an Australian tourist's daughter losing her engagement ring while playing at Cua Dai beach and asking the community to help find it.

Australian tourist was moved when receiving back the diamond ring.

The post included a picture of the ring and an emotional caption: “My daughter lost her engagement ring last night on Hoi An beach. If anyone out there has found it or knows someone with a metal detector, please help…us.”

As soon as he read the information, on the morning of August 1, Mr. Trinh proactively contacted the poster to verify the information, and at the same time called his colleague, Mr. Pham Nhu Dong (born in 1990, also residing in An Hai ward, Da Nang ) to bring a specialized metal detector to Cua Dai beach to help find the ring for tourists.

However, because the tourist did not remember the exact location, the search process was difficult. Under the hot sun, Mr. Trinh and Mr. Dong searched every meter of sand, from the shore to the edge of the sea. “The sea was vast and the weather was harsh, but knowing that it was an item with special sentimental value to the tourist, we did not allow ourselves to give up,” Mr. Trinh shared.

After more than an hour of persistent searching, the signal from the device rang out at the water's edge. The diamond ring was found under the sand. When the ring was returned, the Australian tourist burst into tears, hugged the two marine police officers, repeatedly thanked them, and quickly called his relatives to share the good news.

The ring is said to cost around 2,000 USD (equivalent to more than 50 million VND). But according to the tourist, what moved him the most was the kindness and wholehearted help from strangers in Vietnam.

Officers Trinh and Dong returned the lost diamond ring to the Australian tourist.

It is known that Mr. Trinh and Mr. Dong are officers who are regularly present at Da Nang tourist beaches to ensure safety and support tourists. This is not the first time they have helped find lost property. Previously, on July 25, Mr. Trinh and his colleagues also helped two other female tourists successfully find two iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 phones that were dropped while swimming at My Khe beach.

Those kind and quiet deeds not only demonstrate a sense of responsibility, but also spread a good image of local authorities in the eyes of international friends.
