The amount of people and vehicles on Nguyen Gia Thieu Street is very large.

Nguyen Gia Thieu Street is over 1km long, the main road connecting National Highway 49 through Cho Dinh Bridge to National Highway 1A through Tang Bach Ho and Nguyen Van Linh streets. On the route, there are schools, ward People's Committee headquarters, ward police, slaughterhouses, especially Phu Hau wholesale market, where every day there are many people and traders exchanging and buying and selling goods... Therefore, the traffic of people and vehicles on this route is very crowded.

“From early morning, Nguyen Gia Thieu Street was bustling with people and vehicles stopping and parking to exchange and trade goods. At 7am, the street began to become congested because of the large volume of people and vehicles, especially trucks carrying goods, which caused frequent congestion and traffic jams…”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a resident living along Nguyen Gia Thieu Street.

According to records, from Bai Dau bridge to Nguyen Gia Thieu street is a curved, narrow, bottlenecked road, so when people and vehicles stop at red lights here, it causes congestion and gridlock.

Many people living along Nguyen Gia Thieu Street confirmed that due to the road's deterioration, many potholes, and low-lying areas, it is heavily flooded in the rainy season and dusty in the dry season. They were happy to know that the Hue City People's Committee has approved the investment policy to upgrade and expand this road to resolve the current deterioration; at the same time, to build it into one of the city's wide and beautiful roads.

Mr. Nguyen Thang Duy, Director of the Phu Xuan District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, said that immediately after the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Gia Thieu Street was approved by the Hue City People's Committee, the investor organized a bidding process and is selecting a contractor. It is expected that construction will begin to expand the road in May 2025.

Accordingly, the upgraded and expanded Nguyen Gia Thieu Street has a total length of about 1,166.3m. The starting point of the road is adjacent to Cho Dinh Bridge and the end point is adjacent to Bai Dau Bridge. The project has an investment scale of the cross-section of the section from Bai Dau Bridge to Ngo Kha Street, 547.3m long, with a 36m wide roadbed; the section from Ngo Kha Street to Cho Dinh Bridge is 619.0m long, with a 27.5m wide roadbed. The route is arranged with a power supply system, medium voltage lines, and transformer stations. Along the route, lighting poles are arranged in the middle of the median strip, curbs on the median strip, and shrubs and decorative flowers are planted to create a landscape.

“The goal of investing in upgrading and expanding Nguyen Gia Thieu Street is to gradually complete the traffic network for Hue City; separate traffic lanes, reduce the number of vehicles entering the center of Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa districts, reduce traffic congestion during rush hours; serve the travel needs of the people. At the same time, contribute to urban beautification and create conditions to promote local socio -economic development,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Thang Duy.

The project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Gia Thieu Street has a total investment of 187 billion VND; of which, construction costs are more than 62 billion VND, compensation for site clearance is 107 billion VND, and the remaining costs are other costs.
