What is a Web Guide and how does it work?
Web Guide is an experimental feature in Google's Search Labs that's designed to organize search links in a whole new way. Instead of just showing a long list of links, "Web Guide" uses a custom Gemini AI model to deeply analyze your search intent and the content of millions of web pages.
After analysis, the AI will not only generate links but also group them into relevant topics or categories. For example, if you search for a complex topic, “Web Guide” will generate headings like “Detailed Guide”, “Real-life Experience”, “Troubleshooting”… and arrange the appropriate links under each heading.
AI can even provide a brief summary at the top of each group, helping you quickly grasp the main content without clicking on each link.
Benefits and things users need to note
Web Guide promises to be a boon for users, especially for open-ended queries or when you're researching a broad topic. Instead of being overwhelmed by hundreds of results, you'll find information organized logically.
You don't have to click through multiple pages to find the information you need. Topic groups and concise summaries help you quickly identify relevant and reliable sources.

Still, like Google's other search AI features, Web Guide is facing concerns from the publisher and content creator community.

Web Guide is currently an experiment in Google's Search Labs. To try it out, here's what you need to do:
Open any browser on your Android device (this feature may expand to other platforms in the future). Sign in to your Google account and don't use Incognito mode. Do a Google search.
If this feature is available for your account, you'll see the Search Labs icon (usually a test tube or similar icon in the upper right corner of your screen), and search results as described are grouped.
For example, when you search for “How to start an online business”, Web Guide returns results in the following order:
Steps to create an online business plan. Detailed instructions on market research and identifying a niche. How to choose an e-commerce platform such as comparing Shopee with Lazada or Sendo. Instructions on creating a store on Shopee.
Next, it will suggest marketing and promotion strategies such as SEO tips for new websites and effective Facebook advertising instructions; instructions on order management and shipping; popular delivery services and costs; effective warehouse management tips.
