Currently, Mo Duc Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center has two campuses with about 20 classrooms, serving 647 students from grades 10 to 12. The main campus is located in Mo Duc commune, the second campus is located in Long Phung commune and is seriously degraded.

The classroom was built 30 years ago and is now in disrepair.

At facility 2, there are 4 classrooms, 2 of which were built in 1995 and are seriously degraded. After 30 years of teaching, the classrooms are dilapidated, the walls are peeling, the tiles are crooked, and the doors are tattered.

The most serious problem is that many concrete columns have cracked open, exposing their iron cores. To continue teaching, the school has had to use temporary cement plaster to cover the severely damaged structures. At first glance, this is only temporary, the safety risks are still there.

A teacher at the second facility shared: "When the weather is stable, we feel secure, but when it rains and is windy, teaching and learning is very difficult. Teachers and students are both insecure, sometimes studying while worrying that the room could collapse at any moment."

Faced with this situation, Mr. Nguyen Ke Hau - Director of Mo Duc Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center - said that the school was forced to stop arranging the study of more than 80 grade 10 students in two old classrooms at the second facility. The students were arranged to study alternately in two new classrooms built in 2019 at this facility.

"Although inconvenient, it is a temporary solution to ensure safety for teaching and learning, especially during the approaching storm season," said Mr. Hau.

Not only facility 2, even the main facility has many functional rooms showing signs of damage and deterioration.

Mo Duc Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center was formerly under the jurisdiction of Mo Duc District, Quang Ngai Province. From July 1, 2025, after the district was dissolved and a two-level local government was established, the unit was transferred to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai for management.

Will review and have a solution

Before the handover, the center repeatedly submitted requests for funding to repair and upgrade classrooms to the District People's Committee and the District Finance and Accounting Department, but they have not been approved. The requests from 2022 and 2023 to date have not received positive responses.

Mr. Hau added that while the facilities are increasingly deteriorating, the teaching and learning needs of nearly 650 students are very urgent. "We hope to soon have funds to repair and renovate classrooms. Only then will teachers and students feel secure in teaching and learning for a long time," Mr. Hau expressed.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai - said that the department has just received the center for a few months now. Currently, the department is reviewing and making statistics on the physical facilities of all affiliated units to synthesize and make a plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration of budget allocation.

"In case Mo Duc Center has a proposal, we will forward it to the General Finance Department. As soon as there is a specific proposal, the department will send staff to inspect the situation, assess the needs to advise on a solution," Mr. Thai informed.

While waiting for support from superiors, teachers and students of Mo Duc Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center are still trying to overcome difficulties, not letting teaching and learning be affected. However, with the state of the classrooms having deteriorated after 30 years, many parents are worried that if they are not repaired soon, their children's learning will always be haunted by the fear of insecurity.
