On November 9, information from the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province said that storm Kalmaegi caused heavy damage to schools in the area, estimated at more than 10 billion VND.

Accordingly, storm Kalmaegi damaged 69 schools in the province. Many schools had their roofs blown off, leaks causing damage to equipment, walls collapsed, parking garages collapsed... estimated damage of more than 10 billion VND.

In particular, Son Ha Primary School No. 1 (Son Ha Commune) had a landslide and 200m of fence collapsed; Son Long Primary - Secondary School (Son Tay Commune) had about 10,000 m3 of landslide, completely damaging 1 common toilet for students, 1 boarding cafeteria; damage of 2 billion VND/school.

Faced with the severe impacts of storms and floods, the Department of Education and Training requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones, and educational institutions in the province to urgently overcome the damage (cleaning and sanitizing schools/classrooms to ensure safety, cleanliness, disease prevention, etc.) before students return to school.

In addition, based on the actual situation in the locality, the Chairman of the People's Committee at the commune level, heads of vocational training institutions, and educational institutions under the Department of Education and Training decide the time for students under their management to return to school after the storm.

The time for students to return to school must be truly safe, absolutely not allowing damage to occur due to subjectivity.

Along with that, educational institutions proactively develop and implement make-up learning plans to ensure the progress of the school year.

At the same time, regularly and closely monitor forecasts of rain, floods and landslides to be ready to respond. Continue to promote information, propaganda and mobilization work for officials, civil servants, teachers, staff and students to raise vigilance, awareness, response skills and proactively prevent natural disasters.
