
October is the time when industrial production enterprises take advantage of the golden time, focus resources, boost production to ensure export orders and meet people's increasing year-end shopping needs.
According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, some key industries increased sharply compared to the previous month and the same period last year, such as: Production of leather and leather products increased by 13.8% compared to the previous month and increased by 8.9% compared to the same period last year; production of motor vehicles increased by 10.9% and increased by 20.2%; production and processing of food increased by 7.2% and increased by 7.1%; production of means of transport increased by 6.2% and increased by 3.8%; production of electronic products and computers increased by 5.5% and increased by 20.5%.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the industrial production index increased by 6.9% over the same period in 2024, in which most processing and manufacturing industries achieved high growth rates compared to the same period last year, such as: Motor vehicle production increased by 17.9%; production of non-metallic mineral products increased by 14.2%; production of leather and leather products increased by 11.3%; production of electronic products and computers increased by 10.4%; metal production increased by 9.7%; garment production increased by 9.2%; production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 8.8%; production of drugs, pharmaceuticals, medicinal materials and beverage production both increased by 8.0%... In particular, 2 industries with industrial production index decreased compared to the same period: Production of beds, cabinets, tables and chairs decreased by 1.7%; production of electrical equipment decreased by 1.6%.
The number of workers working in industrial enterprises at the end of October 2025 decreased by 0.2% compared to the end of the previous month and by 2.1% compared to the same period last year. In the first 10 months of 2025, the labor utilization index of industrial enterprises decreased by 0.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
The decrease was due to the closure of 1 factory by Zamil Vietnam Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings Co., Ltd., the number of employees working in the State sector decreased by 0.9%; the number of employees working in the non-State sector decreased by 3.3%; and the number of employees working in the foreign-invested sector increased by 1%. By economic sector: Employees working in the processing and manufacturing sector decreased by 0.8%; the number of employees working in the mining sector decreased by 16.9%; the number of employees working in the water supply and waste and wastewater treatment sector increased by 2.1%; and the number of employees working in the electricity and gas production and distribution sector was equivalent to the same period last year.
