According to the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), the earthquake occurred at 9:47 a.m., with a focal depth of about 8.1 km.

About 15 minutes after the earthquake, a hill about 90m high near the main road leading to Tu Tho Community Tourism Village , Mang Ri Commune suddenly exploded and then thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock collapsed , burying the road to the village. Due to the serious landslide, tourists could not access the tourist area, so people were forced to take a detour and travel by motorbike.

Mr. Pham Xuan Quang, Chairman of Mang Ri Commune People's Committee, said that the earthquake made many people feel the shaking clearly. Although it did not cause any damage to people or property, a large landslide occurred immediately afterward.

“At the time of the explosion, it was sunny. This was an unusual and dangerous incident. We have reported to the province for direction on how to handle it and ensure safety for residential areas on high mountains,” said Mr. Quang.

Immediately after the incident, the commune government coordinated with functional forces to put up warning signs at both ends of the road, temporarily prohibiting residents and tourists from passing through the dangerous area .

Currently, local authorities have mobilized mechanical vehicles to level the mass of soil and rocks burying the road , and at the same time checked the entire area at risk of landslides to ensure safety for people and tourists in the coming time.
