Saigon Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( SHB ) announced a 0.4%/year reduction in interest rates for terms of 6 months or more from September 8.
Accordingly, online deposit interest rates are 6.1%/year for 6-8 month term deposits, 6.2%/year for 9-11 month term deposits and 6.4%/year for 12 month term deposits or more.
At the counter, SHB pays interest rates 0.2% lower per year than online.
Global Petroleum Bank (GPBank) also reduced deposit interest rates for 6-36 month terms starting today. After this reduction, deposit interest rates at GPBank are 6% lower.
According to the online interest rate table, the interest rate for a 6-month term is only 5.65%/year; for a 7-8-month term is 5.7%/year; for a 9-month term is 5.75%/year. For a 12-month term, it is 5.85%/year and for a term from 13 to 36 months, it is 5.95%/year.
The remaining banks did not adjust interest rates.
Since the beginning of September, 7 banks have reduced deposit interest rates including SHB, GPBank, Techcombank, Eximbank, ACB , Nam A Bank, KienLongBank.
Up to now, the group of banks that have brought the interest rates for all terms down to below 6%/year include Agribank , BIDV, VietinBank, Vietcombank, SeABank, Eximbank, ACB, Techcombank, VPBank, GPBank, and ABBank.
There are currently 3 banks with 7%/year interest rates for some online deposit terms.
Specifically, HDBank maintains an interest rate of 7%/year for online deposits with a term of 13 months. CBBank also applies this interest rate to online deposits with terms from 13-36 months. Nam A Bank applies an interest rate of 7.1%/year for online deposits with terms of 12-14 months.
