According to NCB's online banking interest rate table, deposit terms from 1 to 5 months have slightly decreased by 0.1 percentage points from today, to 4.65%/year.
Interest rates on deposits with terms of 6-8 months decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 6%/year. Terms of 9-11 months also decreased by a similar amount to 6.05%/year.
Meanwhile, bank interest rates for 12-13 month deposits decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 6.2%/year.
Deposit terms from 15 to 60 months remain at an interest rate of 6.4%/year.
Despite reducing deposit interest rates, NCB is still the bank paying the highest interest rates in the market today, and is also one of the three remaining banks maintaining interest rates at 6%/year or higher from the 6-month deposit term.
Except for NCB, interest rates at other banks remain unchanged.
According to statistics from the beginning of October, 24 banks have reduced deposit interest rates, including: PVCombank, VIB, Sacombank, VietBank, SCB, VPBank, SHB , BIDV, VietinBank, HDBank, BaoViet Bank, Techcombank, SeABank, Viet A Bank, PG Bank, Dong A Bank, Vietcombank, LPBank, Nam A Bank, CBBank, ACB, Bac A Bank, and NCB.
Of which, VIB, Vietcombank, SHB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, Nam A Bank, HDBank, LPBank, Viet A Bank are the banks that reduced interest rates twice this month. VietBank and Bac A Bank reduced interest rates for the third time this month. On the contrary, there was one bank that increased deposit interest rates, GPBank, on October 4.
According to the latest data released by the State Bank of Vietnam, the average interbank VND interest rate at the overnight term in the session of October 23 increased sharply to 2.22% from 1.47% recorded in the previous session (October 20). This is the highest interest rate since mid-June 2023 and much higher than the interest rate mobilized at terms of less than 1 month of banks (0.1 - 0.5%/year).
Meanwhile, the number of winning T-bills has been continuously decreasing in recent sessions. Yesterday's session (October 25) had only 2 market members participating in the T-bill bidding and both won with a total volume of VND600 billion. This was the session with the lowest number of participants and the lowest number of winning T-bills since the State Bank reopened the T-bill issuance channel in mid-September.
On the other hand, up to VND20,000 billion worth of treasury bills matured yesterday. Thus, the SBV net injected VND19,400 billion on October 25.
The number of banks reducing deposit interest rates drop by drop, the number of winning treasury bills is low and interbank interest rates are increasing sharply, showing that the system's liquidity is no longer too redundant.
The State Bank of Vietnam has recently returned to issuing credit notes in the context of low bank interest rates and continuously increasing exchange rates.
