At the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate of the Netherlands warmly welcomed the working visit to the Netherlands by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the delegation of the Vietnamese Government; emphasizing the important significance of the visit on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023).

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed the Netherlands’ position as a leading partner in trade, investment and cooperation in climate change adaptation; highly appreciated the positive developments in bilateral relations as well as the good cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Dutch Parliament.

In the coming time, the two countries need to be determined to comprehensively promote and deepen the Strategic Partnership framework in the fields of climate change and sustainable agriculture; hope that both sides continue to effectively implement the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the Dutch Parliament soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), contributing to facilitating Dutch enterprises to expand business and investment in Vietnam; and support the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnam's seafood exports.

"Vietnam hopes that the Netherlands and its bilateral and multilateral partners will continue to support the implementation of the Just Energy Transition Agreement (JETP)," the Deputy Prime Minister expressed.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate of the Netherlands expressed their impression of Vietnam's strong socio-economic development, affirming that Vietnam is an important partner of the Netherlands in the Asia-Pacific region; and highly appreciated the close coordination between the Dutch Parliament and the Vietnamese National Assembly at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums.

The leaders of the Dutch Parliament agreed to further promote the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership; and hoped that Vietnam would support the Netherlands in promoting relations with ASEAN.

The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges at all levels, both through the Government and National Assembly channels; actively implement the results achieved during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to the Netherlands in December 2022, especially in the fields of water management and climate change adaptation.

The leaders of the Dutch Parliament believe that the cooperative relationship with the Vietnamese National Assembly will develop more strongly in the coming time on bilateral levels and at multilateral forums, contributing to peace and stability in the world and the region, as well as solving global challenges, towards sustainable development.

At the meeting, the two sides also shared their views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. Regarding the East Sea, the two sides affirmed their support for ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation, and resolving disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha conveyed the greetings and invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Speaker of the House of Representatives Vera Bergkamp and President of the Senate Jan Anthonie Bruijn. The two leaders of the Dutch Parliament happily accepted the invitation and affirmed that they will soon visit Vietnam in the near future.
