Ms. NTH (Group 10, Zone 2, Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City) shared with the staff of Bai Chay Water Company about being scammed by someone impersonating a Water Department employee.

After following the scammer's instructions, Ms. NTH lost 99 million VND in her account.

Specifically, the incident is as follows: At around 6:00 p.m. on May 5, Ms. NTH (residing in Group 10, Zone 2, Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City) received a call from a person claiming to be an employee of Quang Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company, asking to be friends via Zalo to guide her on installing the customer care app and receiving monthly water usage notifications from the Company. Believing the person, Ms. H followed the subject's instructions and entered her bank account information, but as soon as she finished, she discovered that 99 million VND in her bank account had been lost. Immediately after discovering that she had been scammed, Ms. H went to the Gieng Day Ward police to report the incident.

Common tricks are using phone calls or text messages via Zalo or SMS to ask people to pay for water, ask for photos of water bills, instruct customers to register to increase water usage quota...

It is known that recently, calls impersonating employees of Quang Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company with the aim of defrauding and appropriating property of people and water users in the province have increased.

Common tricks are using phone calls or text messages via Zalo, SMS to ask people to pay for water, request photos of water bills, instruct customers to register to increase water usage quota by accessing links, installing software on phones, sending OTP codes... with the aim of defrauding and appropriating people's property.

Representatives of Dien Vong Water Enterprise (Cam Pha City) discussed with representatives of Ward 7B (Quang Hanh Ward) to coordinate in propaganda work to all residents about new fraud tricks.
