The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has requestededucational units to coordinate with local health agencies to strengthen propaganda and disseminate knowledge to cadres, teachers, employees, students and parents on how to protect their health in cold weather.

At the same time, regularly monitor and update information on outdoor temperatures in Hanoi during cold days, which are broadcast on the weather forecast in the "Good Morning" program on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television and the "Hanoi Morning" program on H1 channel, Hanoi Radio and Television at 6am every day.

Based on this information, heads of schools and educational institutions are allowed to proactively decide to let students take time off from school, specifically:

- Preschool and primary school students are off school when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius.

- Secondary school students are off school when the temperature is below 7 degrees Celsius.

In case parents cannot take care of their children due to unavoidable reasons, the school must have a plan to pick up and take care of the students at school to ensure safety.

The Department also requires units to promptly inspect, review and repair classrooms, functional rooms, boarding rooms, dining rooms... to ensure they are draft-free, have enough light and keep students warm.

For boarding schools, special attention must be paid to ensuring hot meals, food, and drinks; and warm enough naptime. For preschools, warm water must be provided to serve and care for children.

Units coordinate with parents to provide students with warm clothes and nutritious meals; schools do not require students to wear uniforms on cold days.

During extremely cold days, schools and educational institutions should not organize outdoor gatherings for students; based on local weather conditions, institutions can adjust school hours so that students do not have to arrive at school too early. In case students arrive late due to weather conditions, flexible arrangements must be made so that students can attend school.

The Department of Education and Training also requested units to proactively and seriously implement the above contents.
