Hanoi: Connecting Soc Son - Me Linh tourism

Dong Do Lake (Soc Son) is an attractive tourist destination for many visitors.

Soc Son is a district located in the North of the capital, 30km from the center of Hanoi , a land with valuable tourism resources in both nature and culture.

Soc Son has a diverse terrain with a large system of hills, mountains, lakes, and forests, interspersed to create a very rich and lyrical natural landscape, including many famous places such as: Soc Mountain, Doi Mountain, Dong Quan Lake, Dong Do Lake, Ham Lon Lake with a total water surface area of up to thousands of hectares...

Besides, Soc Son is also a place rich in cultural resources, famous landscapes and festivals. The district has 341 historical and cultural relics and places of worship with 174 festivals held annually. Of which, 1 relic is ranked as a special national relic, 16 relics are ranked as national relics, 44 relics are ranked as cities; 2 world intangible cultural heritages: Giong Festival - Soc Temple, Ritual and game of pulling the beak - Xuan Thu commune.

According to the Department of Tourism, Soc Son district is included in the research on tourism planning space of Hanoi city until 2030.

In particular, the Soc Mountain - Dong Quan Lake tourist cluster is identified as one of the 6 key tourist clusters of Hanoi with the main tourism products: Cultural and spiritual tourism associated with the Giong festival and the system of temples, pagodas, religious works; weekend eco-tourism associated with Dong Quan Lake, Dong Do Lake...; sports tourism, entertainment, Soc Son horse racing track. The expected room scale of the tourist cluster by 2030 is 5,000 rooms.

Talking about the tourism development plan in the area, Vice Chairman of Soc Son District People's Committee Do Minh Tuan said that in recent times, Soc Son has had many tourism models and many concentrated production areas that have become sightseeing and experience spots for tourists.

To exploit Soc Son tourism more effectively, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Tourism Bui Duc Thuan said that in the coming time, the Department of Tourism will coordinate and accompany Soc Son district to implement many plans, in which priority will be given to developing a system of high-class accommodation facilities (4-5 star hotels, large-scale resorts) along the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai route, Ring Road 4, Soc mountain area - Dong Quan lake...

In addition, the Department will coordinate to build tourist routes connecting destinations in the area of 3 districts (Soc Son - Me Linh - Dong Anh), as well as destinations in neighboring districts and other provinces and cities to form complete tourist routes with daily stay.

“In the coming time, the Department of Tourism will support Soc Son district to organize famtrip groups with the participation of travel agencies to survey destinations and develop new products. In particular, the agencies will promote agricultural tourism and spiritual tourism; promote OCOP products, cuisine associated with tourism, and typical ones,” Mr. Thuan added.
