On September 5, the Ministry of Health said that through infectious disease surveillance since the beginning of 2023, the country has recorded more than 66,380 cases of dengue fever (DF), including 15 deaths. Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of dengue fever cases decreased by 61.5% and the number of deaths decreased by 79 cases.
Although the number of dengue fever cases and deaths nationwide has decreased, the number in the North has increased by more than 125%, especially in Hanoi, which has increased by about 5 times. According to the Hanoi Department of Health , in the past week, the city recorded 1,129 more dengue fever cases in 30 districts, towns and cities, bringing the total number of dengue fever cases in the city to 6,693. Notably, Hanoi recorded 2 deaths from dengue fever.
According to the assessment of the Hanoi Department of Health, through monitoring, along with the rapidly increasing number of cases, Hanoi still has many persistent outbreaks of dengue fever due to poor handling of the epidemic from the beginning and people are still subjective and negligent in disease prevention.
