The Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts that, due to the influence of the southeastern edge of the developing and slowly expanding hot low-pressure area in the West, Hanoi will experience hot weather on June 1st and 2nd; with maximum temperatures of 35-37 degrees Celsius. The period of intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, will be from 12 PM to 4 PM daily.
Besides high temperatures, the humidity in Hanoi is only 50-55%, increasing the feeling of stuffiness and heat. The meteorological agency notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave reports and the actual temperature felt outdoors can differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even more, depending on the surface conditions such as concrete, asphalt, glass windows, etc.
Due to the combined effects of intense heat and low humidity, residential areas are at risk of fires and explosions due to increased electricity demand; simultaneously, the risk of forest fires increases. The heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke in people exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.
From the night of June 2nd to June 3rd, the low-pressure area in the West continued to develop and expand. Hanoi experienced hot weather, with some areas experiencing intense heat, and scattered rain in the late afternoon and evening.
Around the night of June 3rd and the day of June 4th, Hanoi experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the late afternoon and evening, with a drop in temperature. After that period, Hanoi resumed hot and sunny weather.
From June 7th to 10th, Hanoi is likely to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with cooler weather.
