On the afternoon of July 22, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 07/CD-UBND on suspending all entertainment activities during the National Funeral Days of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.

Accordingly, implementing the special announcement of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Notice of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the organization of the State Funeral of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, pursuant to Decree No. 105/2012/ND-CP dated December 17, 2012 of the Government, the Hanoi People's Committee requests: Agencies and offices in the area to fly flags at half-mast during the 2 days of the State Funeral (July 25, 2024 and July 26, 2024).
The half-mast flag is the National Flag, with a mourning ribbon (1/10 the size of the flag's width, the length of the flag and only hang the flag to 2/3 the height of the flagpole, use a black cloth band to tie the flag so it doesn't fly).
The Hanoi People's Committee requests organizations, individuals, and entertainment establishments to stop or postpone organizing art programs, sports competitions, and entertainment activities in the area during the two days of the National Mourning.
According to the reporter of the Journalist and Public Opinion newspaper, today (July 22), many agencies, organizations, residential areas... in Hanoi have flown flags at half-mast to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, even though the day of the State funeral has not yet come.
