On November 30, the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA) held the 4th Vietnam Smart City 2023 Award Ceremony.
The program is part of a series of activities to promote the construction and development of smart cities organized by VINASA. The award has been held annually since 2020 to honor and encourage provinces, cities, real estate investment units, industrial real estate, technology enterprises with solutions to help cities develop smarter, more sustainably, bring convenience to people, and at the same time connect supply and demand, cooperate in building suitable models to accelerate the construction and development of smart cities in Vietnam.
At the award ceremony, Hanoi received the award "City of Attractive Innovation and Startup". By including the keyword "Smart" in the Capital Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Hanoi will develop data - considered a new resource to promote the construction of a smart city.
Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Viet Hung received the award "Attractive city for startups and innovation".
Last July, Hanoi issued the Open Data Catalog. These are specialized data that will be deployed and shared internally within state agencies and with citizens and organizations in the coming time. Hanoi is also focusing on deploying digital infrastructure and a Data Center to soon put it into operation and use in the fourth quarter of 2023.
At the ceremony, Da Nang city was honored to receive awards in the fields of Smart City Management, Infrastructure - Public Services, Smart, Green, Clean Environmental Management City, and Attractive City for Startups and Innovation. In particular, Da Nang was honored as an Excellent Unit in the construction and development of smart cities in Vietnam 2023.
In addition, Tay Ninh province was honored in the category of Intelligent Operation and Management City (IOC). Ho Chi Minh City is the unit with smart applications being deployed and applied in practice, bringing efficiency to people, businesses, communities and society.
In addition, the organizers also awarded 1 award for Industrial Real Estate, 24 awards for categories including excellent technology services and solutions, to honor domestic and foreign enterprises for excellent digital applications and products, contributing to the digital transformation process and building smart cities in Vietnam.
Standing out among these, the Beca Smart City platform of Vietnam Technology and Communications Joint Stock Company - a member of the Investment and Industrial Development Corporation - JSC (Becamex IDC) received a 5-star rating from the organizers in the field of Smart Urban Management and Operation Solutions (IOC).
According to the Ministry of Construction's report in 2022, after 5 years of implementing Decision No. 950 of the Prime Minister on sustainable smart urban development in Vietnam for the period 2018 - 2025 and orientation to 2030, Vietnam has 48/63 provinces and cities implementing smart urban development projects, more than 40 localities have implemented provincial IOCs, and nearly 100 district IOCs.
Current urban areas are developing IOC systems and smart urban utilities and smart services, focusing mainly on the fields of transportation (monitoring traffic order and safety), smart healthcare, smart education, and developing warning applications.
Responding to and accompanying the Government's policies, the Smart City Award is not only a recognition of the efforts and achievements of authorities at all levels, but also a driving force to promote development. To date, 142 awards have been given, including 23 for urban areas, 3 for real estate projects and 116 for technology solutions.
The Vietnam Smart City Award 2023 was launched on July 20. After nearly 3 months of implementation, the Award has received 100 nominations.
