Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade acknowledged that in 2024, with the efforts of all levels, sectors, and the support of businesses and people, the City has achieved many achievements in energy. The total energy saved in 2024 of the whole City is 148.4 kTOE, reaching 1.67% of energy consumption compared to forecast demand. Of which, the amount of electricity saved is 537.39 million kWh, equivalent to 2.3% of commercial electricity; the total installed rooftop solar power capacity in the City is 102.928MWp; 02 waste-to-energy generators with a total capacity of 60MW have been stably operated; 3,387 large production customers have signed agreements to participate in the non-commercial electricity load adjustment program with a total registered reduced capacity of 212.9MW.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang, in addition to the achievements, in 2025, Hanoi will still face difficulties and challenges in electricity supply during the peak summer season due to high demand for electricity. Hanoi has set a target of striving to achieve energy savings of 1.6% - 1.8% compared to the forecast demand, of which a minimum savings of 2.2% of the total electricity consumption of the whole city; developing renewable energy to increase by about 67MW from waste-to-energy, bringing the total energy source from waste treatment of Hanoi to about 129.3MW; striving to increase by about 30MW of rooftop solar power in line with the Government 's rooftop solar power development policy.
On the side of the Ministry of Industry and Trade , Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion - Mr. Quach Quang Dong commented: "In the past time, Hanoi city has always actively coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to effectively implement the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy with very practical and meaningful activities, contributing to the success of the Program. With the achieved results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assesses Hanoi city as the leading locality in the country in implementing the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy."
The signing ceremony of the agreement on electricity load shifting took place within the framework of the event.
Also at the launching ceremony, Mr. Dinh The Phuc - Member of the Board of Members of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) called on all agencies, organizations and people to join hands in saving electricity, especially during the peak hot season in May, June and July 2025. Mr. Dinh The Phuc hopes that state agencies, socio-political organizations and organizations will promote their exemplary role in the movement of using electricity economically in agencies and public offices, saving at least 5% of total electricity consumption/year. For the business community, especially industrial production enterprises, strive to save at least 2% of total electricity consumption/year; at the same time, continue to participate in programs to manage electricity demand and adjust loads, shift peak hour loads. Encourage people and households to turn off unnecessary electrical equipment, prioritize the use of equipment labeled energy saving, install self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power.
On the Group's side, EVN commits to continue investing in improving the quality of the power system, deploying digital technology in electricity consumption management, providing technical consulting support and providing more effective electricity saving service solutions in the coming time.
Within the framework of the Conference, a signing ceremony of the agreement on electricity load shifting took place. At the same time, an exhibition area for green products and technologies was organized with a series of high-performance electrical equipment, battery storage models, renewable energy models and the latest energy-saving technologies. This is an opportunity for the people of the capital to directly access, experience and evaluate modern technological solutions, and at the same time, a visual communication space to help raise awareness and promote energy-saving behavior in the community.
Previously, on November 18, 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Plan No. 327/KH-UBND to implement the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy in 2025. Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to coordinate with relevant units to provide technical support to production and business establishments in building energy efficiency indexes, applying high-performance equipment and advanced technology. Energy auditing activities, building management systems, simulating and forecasting energy demand, building energy consumption norms and developing green energy facilities are also strongly implemented. Effective energy saving models will be disseminated and replicated to serve propaganda and transformation work.
