To develop sustainable agriculture , Hanoi is restructuring the cultivation sector, towards developing ecological agriculture, green and clean agriculture associated with experiential tourism.
Many localities in Hanoi are focusing on developing high-tech agricultural models and product production and consumption chains...
Reality shows that production models applying high technology and organic methods bring greater economic efficiency, improving the quality, competitiveness and value of agricultural products.
It is thanks to the application of high technology in agricultural production that farmers have changed their thinking, both improving efficiency and ensuring health safety for themselves and the community, and ecological balance.
Visit the orchid farm of Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, in Noi Dong village, Dai Thinh commune, Me Linh district (Hanoi) which is built quite modernly, with a closed orchid care system.
Steps such as watering, breeding, and flower shaping are all carried out in greenhouses with high standards so that the flowers grow and bloom on time.
Temperature, light and water factors are optimally controlled to help the growth of more than 50,000 flower roots.
"Thanks to the application of technology in orchid production, helping the flowers grow well, the orchid farm has promoted economic efficiency, bringing in tens of billions of VND in revenue each year. In addition, the farm also creates regular jobs for more than 20 workers, with an average income of 7 million VND/person/month," Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung shared.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, representative of Me Linh F-Farm, said that in the coming time, he will continue to research and apply to improve the quality of flowers and herbs that are being grown naturally.
He also hopes to develop Me Linh F-Farm into an impressive eco-tourism destination of Me Linh district and Hanoi.
According to Ms. Bui Huong Bich, Director of Dan Hoai Cooperative (Dan Phuong District), to increase the value of agricultural products, it is necessary to apply technology. Therefore, Dan Hoai Cooperative has invested in 85 greenhouses and net houses, covering an area of about 20,000m2, applying advanced irrigation systems, saving water, regulating temperature and light.
Currently, the Cooperative has mastered the process of planting, caring for, and mass-flowering Phalaenopsis orchids, achieving high quality.
Thanks to systematic and scientific investment, in recent years, Dan Hoai Cooperative has provided the market with about 1 million seedlings and commercial Phalaenopsis orchids/year; revenue of 4-5 billion VND/year.
To effectively implement the agricultural restructuring project, Mr. Nguyen Trong Khien, Vice Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee, said that the district continues to review and adjust the planning and plan to convert crop structure in accordance with advantages and market demand, adapting to climate change. At the same time, develop organic agriculture, ecological agriculture, such as: commodity rice production areas, fruit tree areas in accordance with the district's planning as green corridors, suburban ecological urban areas.
In recent years, Thanh Oai district has formed a number of flower and ornamental plant growing areas with great economic efficiency such as kumquat and grapefruit growing areas in Kim An and Cao Vien communes... with an average revenue of 500-700 million VND/ha/year.
Currently, localities with land areas outside the Red River dike have exploited them to the maximum to grow flowers, ornamental plants, intercrop vegetables, and raise livestock for high economic efficiency.
In the coming time, the district will encourage gardeners to introduce flower varieties and ornamental plants with unique shapes suitable for urban housing areas into production. The district will survey riverside and beach communes to support farmers in converting to flower and ornamental plant growing models.
In addition, the district coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to expand traffic outside the beach area and complete the irrigation system in the beach area to create conditions for people to expand production and consume products.
To improve the quality and efficiency of concentrated flower and ornamental plant growing areas, the district encourages people to rent land and convert production land to suitable crops, including flowers and ornamental plants...
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the agricultural development planning, Hanoi pays special attention to planning green belts for the capital, especially in the context of increasingly narrow land funds, so developing flower and ornamental plant models is the first choice. This is also the model that many large cities and capitals in the world have built...
To overcome limitations in forming flower and ornamental plant growing areas, Hanoi will develop mechanisms and policies for the development of this group of plants, attracting businesses to invest in high-tech application models.
Hanoi City will coordinate with research institutes and scientists to select key products in the development orientation of flowers and ornamental plants.
In addition to the main groups of trees and flowers such as peach, kumquat, rose, orchid, chrysanthemum... it is necessary to expand and diversify the varieties of flowers and ornamental plants, suitable for soil and climate conditions...
Along with policy solutions, Hanoi’s agricultural sector continues to promote restructuring in the production of flowers and ornamental plants. It is expected that by 2025, the area of flower and ornamental plant cultivation in the whole city will reach about 9,000 hectares.
In addition to the current traditional flower growing areas, Hanoi will gradually convert ineffective rice growing areas to flower and ornamental plant growing areas in the districts of Ba Vi, Soc Son, Gia Lam, Thuong Tin and Son Tay town, especially the riverside areas.
In addition to introducing new, high-quality flower and ornamental plant varieties into production, in the coming time, the city will also strengthen the economic cooperation between farmers and enterprises, forming flower and ornamental plant production and consumption areas combined with eco-tourism; maintaining the brand and trademark of traditional flower areas./.
