Previously, Hanoi recorded the first case of Japanese encephalitis, a 5-year-old boy in Phuc Tho district.

Thus, from the beginning of 2023 until now, Hanoi has had 2 cases of Japanese encephalitis. Doctors said that Japanese encephalitis can occur at any age but is most common in children aged 2 to 8 years old.
This is considered one of the dangerous diseases, with high mortality and sequelae rates in young children (from 25-35%).
Also according to the Hanoi CDC, last week (from October 6 to 13), the city recorded 2,601 cases of dengue fever in 30 districts, towns and cities.
Ha Dong District is the leading locality in terms of the number of cases with 250 cases, followed by Phu Xuyen District with 200 cases, Thanh Oai District with 171 cases, Thanh Tri District with 163 cases. The remaining districts: Cau Giay, Chuong My, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Bac Tu Liem recorded from 120 to 124 cases.
Last week, 136 dengue fever outbreaks were recorded in 23 districts, towns and cities. This is also the week with the most outbreaks since the beginning of 2023.
Accumulated from the beginning of 2023 until now, Hanoi has had 20,548 cases of dengue fever (an increase of more than 3 times compared to the same period in 2022), of which there have been 3 deaths. Patients are distributed in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; 568/579 communes, wards and towns.
Thus, statistics in the past 3 weeks (from the end of September 2023 until now), the number of dengue fever cases in Hanoi has increased sharply, fluctuating between 2,500 - 2,600 cases/week (1.5 times higher than the first week of September 2023).
