Hanoi repairs elevated Ring Road 3, how will vehicles get around?

Hanoi Department of Construction has just announced traffic diversion to serve the repair work of the elevated Ring Road 3.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Construction Tran Huu Bao has just signed a document to organize traffic flow to serve the repair of abutments, pillars, bridge bearings, expansion joints and drainage system of the elevated Ring Road 3.

Accordingly, for the section from Mai Dich to Thang Long Avenue, from 6am to 10pm, half of the road surface will be barricaded at 9 expansion joints that need repair. Vehicles will travel on the remaining half of the road surface. At night (from 10pm to 6am the next morning), all vehicles will be banned from traveling.

At this time, from the elevated Ring Road 3, vehicles go in the direction of Mai Dich overpass (parallel urban overpass branch) - Pham Van Dong Street - Pham Hung Street (lower Ring Road 3) - through the Pham Hung - Khuat Duy Tien intersection, then go back to the elevated Ring Road 3 at the exit on Khuat Duy Tien Street (opposite Thang Long Number One building) to continue moving towards Phap Van.

From Thang Long Boulevard to Mai Dich, traffic flows normally.

The Mai Dich overpass and Pham Hung street entrances to the elevated Ring Road 3 are still operating normally.

The Department of Construction requested the Traffic Inspectorate, Traffic Police and local authorities to arrange forces to coordinate in guiding traffic flow at checkpoints. At the same time, remote traffic flow must be implemented and a sign system installed according to regulations.

In case of traffic jam, there must be a timely solution and coordination with relevant authorities to ensure smooth traffic.

Previously, in May 2024, some expansion joints were dislodged and subsided, causing traffic safety problems on the elevated Ring Road 3, especially the section from My Dinh Bus Station to Linh Dam.

Meanwhile, the elevated Ring Road 3 is a vital route with a very high traffic volume, especially heavy trucks. Therefore, to ensure stability, prolong the life of the project and ensure traffic safety, repairing and overcoming the problem of misaligned bridge bearings is very necessary and urgent.
