"Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945": Recreating historical moments

(Dan Tri) - On the evening of August 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the special art program "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" at August Revolution Square - where the historic rally took place 80 years ago.

The program was also attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai, along with leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, leaders of central and Hanoi departments, ministries, branches, etc., along with a large number of people in the capital.

The event was broadcast live on VTV1 channel, rebroadcast on H1 - Hanoi Radio and Television Station.

The program Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945 is directed by the Hanoi Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; organized and implemented by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that August Revolution Square 80 years ago was the place where the historic rally of the people of the capital took place on August 19, 1945, starting the General Uprising to seize power across the country.

It was from here that the revolutionary fire, patriotism and determination to gain independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people were ignited, creating a brilliant milestone: the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - on September 2, 1945.

This historical event opened an era of independence and freedom associated with socialism, transforming our people from slaves to masters of their country and destiny.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee said that after 80 years of protecting, building and developing the country, especially nearly 40 years of renovation, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our country has achieved many great and historic achievements in all fields.

“Special art program Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945   Held at the August Revolution Square - a place that marks important historical events, honors patriotism, revolutionary spirit, and national pride - further highlights the profound meaning of the program.

The program not only reminds us of the glorious and heroic history of the Vietnamese people from the brilliant August of 1945, but also spreads a strong message of the self-reliance and aspiration of the entire nation," Mr. Tran Sy Thanh affirmed.

The program is elaborately staged, consisting of 3 chapters and 6 episodes, recreating important historical slices of the Capital over the past 80 years.

History is skillfully recreated on stage, showing the grandeur but also the lyricism and romance of the people of Hanoi, who, amidst the rain of bombs and bullets, remained steadfast in their patriotism and love for their people, determined to sacrifice to regain independence and freedom for the nation in general and for the thousand-year-old land of Thang Long in particular.

The opening scene is the August 19 scene and a mash-up of famous revolutionary songs: The Internationale (Pierre De Geyter), Destroy Fascism (Nguyen Dinh Thi), Guerrilla Song (Do Nhuan), Call of Youth (Luu Huu Phuoc), Together We Go Red Soldiers (Dinh Nhu), Eighteenth of August (Xuan Oanh).

The climax is the chorus of Tien Quan Ca (Van Cao) resounding in the middle of the historic square, when thousands of spectators stood up towards the fluttering national flag, creating a sacred and emotional moment.

The program also introduces many works associated with Hanoi through the ages such as: Hanoi People (Nguyen Dinh Thi), Hanoi Epic (Duong Cam), Hanoi Faith and Hope (Phan Nhan), Hanoi Xam (Hoang Anh Tu), Hanoi Light Up the City (Duong Cam)...

Those melodies depict the image of Hanoi as gallant, steadfast, integrated and developing.

The program also brings familiar melodies such as: The country is full of joy (Hoang Ha), A letter written in a hurry (Duong Cam), Marching far away (Do Nhuan) , On Him Lam hill (Do Nhuan), Uncle is marching with us, Truong Son song ...

The music in the program leads the audience from the historic autumn days on the fiery land of Thang Long, with the sunshine of Ba Dinh and the Declaration of Independence, to the heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era and the days of bombs and firestorms of the Dien Bien Phu in the air battle, then the spring trains opening the journey of building a rich, civilized capital, reaching out to enter a new era.

The program brings together nearly 1,000 artists and actors from many theaters and art units in Hanoi and the Central, including People's Artist Hoang Anh Tu, People's Artist Tan Minh, artist Xuan Hinh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, singers Hoang Hai, Van Mai Huong, Lam Bao Ngoc, Dong Hung, Khanh Linh, Oplus group...

People's Artist Tan Minh is the artistic director; musician Duong Cam is the music director; conductor Dong Quang Vinh conducts the orchestra; Master Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh is the general director.

The technological highlight is shown through 3 3D mapping projections combined with artistic fireworks, taking the audience on a journey of light through time - from the heroic history of Thang Long - Hanoi, to the image of a modern, creative, integrated Vietnam.

With a sophisticated combination of performing arts, music, lighting and modern technology, the program Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945 is not only a special night of art but also a deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At the same time, this is also an opportunity for every citizen of the capital and the whole country to be more proud, strengthen their belief and aspiration to build a prosperous and happy country in the new era.
