At Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ) on the afternoon of August 19, the Vietnamese women's team had a tense match against Thailand, everything was only decided in the second half with a 3-0 victory in the third place match of the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup.
Right from the first minutes, Thailand started the game better, creating dangerous situations that forced goalkeeper Kim Thanh to show off her skills. However, coach Mai Duc Chung's students quickly regained control of the game. In the 16th minute, Bich Thuy crossed the ball accurately for Thai Thi Thao to head, but unfortunately the ball went over the bar.
By the 28th minute, Vietnam gradually controlled the midfield, coordinated better but still had difficulty against Thailand's tight defense. In the first 30 minutes of the match, the Vietnamese women's team still could not make any accurate shots, despite having a better game.
The turning point came in the 45th minute, when Bich Thuy sent a delicate pass, Hai Yen ran down to receive the ball and finished with one touch, defeating goalkeeper Pawarisa, opening the score 1-0 for the Vietnamese team, bringing Hai Yen's number of goals since the beginning of the tournament to 4.
In the 65th minute, Huynh Nhu took advantage of the opportunity to escape from Thai Thi Thao's delicate pass. Facing goalkeeper Pawarisa, the number 9 striker's first shot was blocked, but the rebound shot put the ball into the net, raising the score to 2-0 for the Vietnamese team. This was also the only goal scored by the Vietnamese captain in this year's tournament.
After Huynh Nhu's goal, Vietnam's strikers played with great excitement and just 3 minutes later raised the score to 3-0 thanks to Bich Thuy's beautiful volley.
During the remaining time, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team continued to create many dangerous opportunities, but the goal belonged to Thailand, when Kwaenkasikarm scored an honorary goal in the 87th minute.
At the end of 90 minutes, the Vietnamese women's team won an important 3-1 victory over Thailand to win the bronze medal of the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup.
The final match of the tournament between U23 Australia and Myanmar will take place at 19:30 today.
