The Dong Nai riverside road project is more than 5km long in Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai Province (Buu Long Ward, Bien Hoa City, old Dong Nai); extending from Hoa An Bridge to the border of Vinh Cuu District. This is a key project of Bien Hoa City (old) with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND from the budget. Of which, 1,339 billion VND is for road construction; the remaining 613 billion VND is for riverside embankment. The project started construction in 2021 and is expected to be completed in mid-2023. However, it is still unfinished due to many objective reasons...

It took 3 months to free… the rock.
After many years of sluggish construction, the work of clearing land and houses for the people has now been completed. The shape of the road has basically taken shape, many sections have been completed with asphalt, stone paving, trees planted on both sides of the sidewalk, and lamp posts and trees installed on the median strip.

However, recently the project has encountered a problem, which is that at the end of the route (near Buu Long tourist area), there is a rock as big as a mini soccer field and protruding about 3 meters above the ground, blocking the project's land.

The above rock is located in the area of the oil receiving station of Air Force Regiment 935 (located in Bien Hoa airport), which was handed over in November 2024. After receiving and clearing the ground, the rock was "revealed".
Speaking to Thanh Nien reporters, the representative of the investor, the Bien Hoa Project Management Board, said that because the rock is located in a residential area, blasting cannot be used, so an excavator with a hammer must be used to break the rock for construction. The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province gave 3 months to free... the rock. "First it was the old house, now it's the rock," the investor representative complained.
Straighten the road to protect the old house
The ancient house that the investor mentioned is the 100-year-old villa of Governor Vo Ha Thanh (locals call it Lau Ong Phu), facing the Dong Nai River, with its back leaning against Binh Dien Mountain). According to documents, the villa was built in 1922 and completed in 1924. In 1996, this place was chosen as the main setting for filming the movie Nguoi dep Tay Do.

According to the old planning, 2/3 of the villa was located within the riverside road. Faced with the risk of the villa being demolished, in September 2024, some historians and public opinion researchers suggested that this 100-year-old villa should be preserved by realigning the road; some even proposed the solution of inviting the "genie" to move the house out of the clearance area...
After that, the Standing Committee of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee decided to keep the villa, and assigned the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies to preserve and promote the cultural, historical and architectural values of the villa.

Therefore, it took the locality, the investor and related units several months to adjust the planning. Specifically, adjusting the area of more than 2,900 m2 of land from the function of planning green park land to the function of planning traffic land; adjusting the area of about 438 m2 of land from the function of planning traffic land to the function of planning relic - religious land; adjusting the area of about 311 m2 of land from the function of planning riverside resort land to the function of planning relic - religious land.
After adjustment, the Dong Nai riverside road when passing by the 100-year-old Governor's villa will be "adjusted" to the direction of the Dong Nai river to avoid the villa.

Buu Long stone craft village
Buu Long Ward (old) has a source of green stone considered the best quality in Dong Nai, which is why this place formed a famous stone carving village 300 years ago. Although it has largely disappeared, there are still some households that stick with the profession.
Long An Lake of Buu Long Tourist Area (located next to Dong Nai River) was formed from the process of stone mining. Accordingly, during the mining, the quarry owner left behind scattered stone outcrops. Later, the quarry closed, over time the water accumulated and gradually rose, creating a miniature "Ha Long Bay".
