Ranked 97th is banh chung (Vietnamese sticky rice cake). TasteAtlas states that the main ingredients of this traditional Vietnamese dish are sticky rice, mung beans, pork, and spices such as salt, pepper, scallions, and fish sauce. The pork is marinated and used as a filling along with the mung beans, wrapped in dong leaves or banana leaves, tied with bamboo string, and then cooked.
Sometimes, to give the cake a more beautiful shape, square wooden molds are used. Banh chung has cultural value and historical significance. Primarily appearing during the Lunar New Year - the traditional Vietnamese festival - banh chung is believed to have been created by King Hung VII, named Lang Liêu.

Broken rice has a texture similar to regular rice, only smaller. When served, broken rice is accompanied by various side dishes such as fried eggs, chopped pork skin, grilled pork ribs, or crispy fried fish cakes. Side vegetables include cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce... and even pickled mustard greens and fried shallots. The unique feature that can make broken rice a competitive dish between different restaurants is the dipping sauce, which is prepared in different ways.

TasteAtlas' food rankings are based on votes from TasteAtlas readers. The list of the 100 best rice dishes in the world garnered 13,124 votes. However, the site argues that TasteAtlas rankings should not be considered the ultimate global conclusion about cuisine, and its main purpose is to promote great local dishes, foster pride in traditional cuisine, and draw tourists' attention to dishes they may not have tried before.
