As an inseparable part of the core zone of the World Heritage Site of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Hai Nham village (Nam Hoa Lu ward) has transformed strongly in the development of tourism economy in recent years. With the consensus of the Party Committee, government and people, the village has implemented many effective solutions to raise awareness of heritage protection, thereby not only improving people's lives but also contributing to preserving the pristine beauty of the natural landscape.
Tourism - A sustainable "fishing rod" for people
With nearly 20 years of experience as a boatman on the Linh Coc-Hai Nham tourist route, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vung is one of the children of Hai Nham who has been preserving the heritage in the most vivid way. She is not only a resident but also a person who directly preserves and spreads the cultural and historical values of Trang An through her daily work.
Ms. Vung emotionally shared: Since Trang An Heritage was recognized as a World Heritage, our people have benefited a lot. Not only do we live in a beautiful natural landscape, but this place also gives us a sustainable "fishing rod". Each family in the village is assigned a boat trip to serve Vietnamese guests and a boat trip to serve foreign guests, rotating in a circle. In the process of providing services, we not only introduce to tourists the history and culture of Trang An Heritage, the sightseeing routes of Hang Chua, Hang Ghe, Hang But of the Linh Coc-Hai Nham tourist route, but also convey the message of protecting heritage and protecting the environment, helping tourists understand and have a good impression of the place they have visited.
In Hai Nham, tourism has truly changed the lives of a formerly poor countryside. Many community tourism models have been born, contributing to improving the economic life of the people. A typical example is the tourism story of the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, owner of the Tam Coc Galaxy Villa homestay in Team 1, Hai Nham village.
Having done business and worked in many industries, with the desire to get rich on his homeland, in 2024, Mr. Ha and his family invested in repairing and upgrading the premises to run a homestay business with 10 rooms, a swimming pool and a restaurant next to the mountain, creating closeness to nature.
Mr. Ha said: Born and raised in Hai Nham, for more than 40 years, my hometown has always been in my heart. Therefore, I always wonder how to develop the economy in conjunction with tourism development and heritage conservation. In designing homestays, I always focus on the elements of harmony with nature, protecting heritage, not encroaching on heritage, not only to promote heritage but also to use heritage as the foundation for sustainable development in the future.
Tourism not only brings income but also helps rural people learn more knowledge and become more civilized. The young generation here is regularly educated about environmental protection and landscape awareness to develop sustainable tourism. Currently, Hai Nham village with 164 households, over 400 people, has over 10 households running homestay businesses, over 100 boatmen and some households renting motorbikes for tourism, creating many new livelihoods for the people.
Spreading the spirit of "Living in heritage, protecting heritage, benefiting from heritage"
Mr. Dinh Quang Phuong, Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Front Work Committee of Hai Nham village affirmed: As a locality in the core area of Trang An Heritage, the people of Hai Nham village always follow the motto "Living in heritage, protecting heritage, benefiting from heritage". Therefore, the work of heritage protection has been included in the monthly resolution of the village Party Cell; promoting propaganda work on heritage protection as well as economic development, building a civilized tourism lifestyle, promoting village culture; focusing on inspection and supervision work to ensure strict implementation of regulations on sustainable tourism development business.
Preserving and promoting heritage values is not a simple story, but with the joint efforts and consensus of all levels, organizations, businesses and all villagers, Hai Nham has created an exemplary model of heritage protection and tourism development. Tourism has helped transform the village's economic structure from pure agriculture to commercial services, creating many new occupations and livelihoods. Community tourism has elevated agricultural products, craft villages, rural architecture and natural landscapes, turning them into "special goods" imbued with traditional cultural identity.
Besides, Hai Nham is one of the typical villages in building cultural life of residential areas, building civilized tourist spots, thereby forming a sustainable tourism environment in the community.
Thanks to these efforts, Hai Nham village has achieved the model new rural standard since 2020. Up to now, the model new rural criteria have been maintained and improved; the village no longer has multidimensional poor households, only 3 poor households with social protection; average income per capita reaches over 70 million VND/person/year.
Hai Nham is not only a peaceful countryside but also a clear demonstration of the development of tourism economy associated with heritage conservation, bringing a prosperous life to the people and contributing to preserving priceless cultural and natural values for future generations.
