Visiting the Pirate Islands, tourists can explore locations such as Hon Tre (also known as Hon Doc), Tre Nho, Tre Vinh, Doi Moi Lon, Doi Moi Nho, Hon Giang, Hon Duoc, Hon U... The Pirate Islands boast beautiful beaches, especially Bai Bac with its long stretches of white sand and pristine scenery. The archipelago enjoys a cool climate year-round, clear blue water, and long stretches of white sand along the coastlines, with minimal impact from storms. There are over 80 floating fish farms for tourists to visit and take photos. Two passenger transport options are available: the Minh Nga and Superdong ferries. There are three fixed trips per day. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, additional trips are offered depending on passenger demand.

Mr. Do Van Tu, General Director of Tu Trieu Phu Limited Company and owner of Treasure Pirate Resort, said: “The entire resort covers more than 9 hectares and has a capacity of 140 people. In the past two years, the number of visitors has tripled, so the tourism potential on the island is still very large. In the near future, I will invest in an additional 150 rooms, accommodating 400 guests, and many other facilities to make the resort more attractive to visitors.”

While taking us to the island for fishing and serving squid porridge and oysters on the boat, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, a resident of Tien Hai commune, shared: “I have been making a living from the sea for over 40 years. Recently, with the influx of tourists, the fishermen are very happy, leading to the development of many services.” Mr. Nguyen Van Muon, an employee at Huong Dao restaurant, shared: “Tourists come here all year round, but most are on holidays and weekends. When I have free time, I help out at the restaurant and also take tourists out for squid fishing, regular fishing, diving, and swimming…”

The islands in the Pirate Archipelago are still very pristine, allowing visitors to experience the simple island life with fishermen, bringing tents to camp on the beach. In addition, visitors can participate in fishing, experience cage fish farming at sea, and cook, eat, and fish for squid. The best time to visit the Pirate Archipelago is from November to April of the following year, as the sea is calm and the water is clear during this period.

According to the People's Committee of Tien Hai commune, the total number of visitors in 2025 is expected to reach 75,231. To provide clean water for residents and tourists, Tien Hai commune has one freshwater reservoir with a capacity of 50,000 and another freshwater reservoir with a capacity of 40,000 belonging to the 7th Infantry Combined Company. These two freshwater reservoirs ensure the daily supply of water for residents on the island and businesses serving tourists in the commune. In addition to using water pumped from the freshwater reservoirs, the commune encourages residents to store rainwater in tanks and reservoirs to provide water for tourists. To date, most tourism businesses have water tanks storing 5-15 of water per household.

Through programs promoting coastal and island tourism and building new rural areas, infrastructure such as roads, the national power grid, water supply, and ports have been invested in quite comprehensively. However, due to the relatively unstable number of tourists visiting during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and summer vacations, businesses are still hesitant to invest in facilities. Because of limited investment capital, a small number of businesses lack sufficient understanding of tourism operations, leading to unprofessional and unregulated activities, and limited service quality. The number of tourists staying overnight on the island is low due to the lack of entertainment, shopping, and recreational options, especially at night. The limited investment capital of businesses in tourism means only small-scale, low-quality investments, so more investment is needed to retain tourists.
