The only mountain tunnel on the highway through Ha Tinh is ready to be put into operation.

(Baohatinh.vn) - After 2 years of construction, the Deo But tunnel on the Vung Ang - Bung highway through Ha Tinh has basically completed construction and is ready to be put into operation.

Deo But road tunnel through Deo But mountain range, part of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway project connecting Ha Tinh - Quang Tri (former Quang Binh province), officially started construction in July 2023. The tunnel is nearly 1 km long with the northern tunnel entrance in Ky Hoa commune and the southern tunnel entrance in Ky Lac commune, Ha Tinh province.



Deo But Road Tunnel has a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND, with Project Management Board 6 ( Ministry of Construction ) as the investor, Son Hai Group as the contractor. The tunnel is designed with 2 tunnels, of which the left tunnel is 716m long, the right tunnel is 840m long, the center of the left tunnel is 45m from the center of the right tunnel, each tunnel is 15m wide, 8m high.

According to the approved design, the right tunnel (North-South direction) is fully constructed and put into operation with 2 lanes in opposite directions, designed speed of 80 km/h. The left tunnel is used as a rescue and escape tunnel and is not yet in operation.

Deo But Tunnel is one of the critical road items of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway project.



After 2 years of construction, Son Hai Group has basically completed the right tunnel, ready for operation.

Many items in the tunnel such as median strips, road pavement, lighting system, tunnel lining painting, equipment installation and fire prevention and fighting have been completed.

Along with that, the tunnel operator system has been completed.

The roads and viaducts leading to Deo But tunnel have also been gradually completed with the installation of median strips, guardrails, road markings...

But Pass is the only road tunnel in the more than 107km length of the North-South expressway in the East through Ha Tinh province.

The Vung Ang - Bung expressway is 55.34 km long, passing through two provinces: Ha Tinh (12.9 km) and Quang Binh - now Quang Tri (42.44 km), with the starting point intersecting with National Highway 12C, connecting with Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway in Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province and the end point in Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province, connecting with Bung - Van Ninh expressway.

Vung Ang - Bung Expressway is invested by Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Construction). The project is divided into 2 construction packages, of which, construction package XL01 is undertaken by Son Hai Group - Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation - Joint Stock Company 484 - Joint Stock Company 369 - Joint Stock Company 479 Hoa Binh, while Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - Lizen Joint Stock Company undertakes construction package XL02. The section through Ha Tinh belongs to construction package XL01.

At the investment phase, the expressway has 4 lanes, no emergency lane, and a number of emergency stops are arranged every 4-5 km with a roadbed width of 17 m and a design speed of 60-90 km/h.
