Speaking to Tuoi Tre on the afternoon of April 10, a leader of a domestic airline said that the rate of international visitors booking tickets to Ho Chi Minh City for the April 30 holiday is increasing significantly, especially from markets such as India, South Korea, Australia... "We are very excited about the level of interest of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City during this year's holiday," he said.
According to the survey, many international ticket prices are offered by airlines at competitive levels to attract customers. For example, tickets from Mumbai (India) to Ho Chi Minh City during the holidays cost from 4.5 million VND/ticket (including taxes and fees), while the Seoul (Korea) - Ho Chi Minh City route only fluctuates between 2.5 - 4 million VND/ticket.
Mr. Pham Anh Vu, deputy general director of Viet Travel Company, said the number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City through this unit has increased by more than 30% compared to the same period.
"City tours, visiting Cu Chi tunnels, Saigon river tours or enjoying A O Show, water puppetry... are very popular with foreign visitors," Mr. Vu shared.
Meanwhile, domestic airfares have increased sharply during the holiday, especially on key tourist routes. The Hanoi - Da Nang route from April 28 to May 3 has a common price of around 2.5 million VND/ticket. Many good time slots are sold out.
The Hanoi - Phu Quoc route recorded prices ranging from 3.5 - 4.6 million VND for the outbound flight, while the return flight was almost "sold out". Some passengers were forced to cancel their travel plans because the cost exceeded their initial estimate. Airlines such as Vietjet and Bamboo have "softer" prices, but are also gradually running out of tickets.
Notably, for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route on April 30, Vietnam Airlines listed the lowest price at 3.7 million VND/ticket, an increase of 37% compared to April 29. Meanwhile, Vietjet Air quoted 1.4 million VND/ticket (excluding taxes and fees) on April 30, 37% lower than the previous day.
On the contrary, April 29 was the "peak" of the company with a price increase of up to 60%, the highest in the last 20 days of April.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, domestic airlines are expected to operate more than 7,500 flights, providing about 1.5 million seats, an increase of 20% over the same period last year.
During the peak summer season of 2025 alone, airlines will operate nearly 68,600 flights, of which tourist routes account for 30% of the total number of flights.
