With great potential and space, Hanoi is leading the country in developing OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program) and craft village products. To effectively exploit the inner-city market, the city has been implementing many solutions to promote trade, connect supply and demand...
Connecting production and consumption

Last weekend, at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Tay Ho District to organize the "Week of consulting, introducing and promoting the consumption of OCOP products, craft villages, safe agricultural and food products in 2025". With 50 booths, more than 500 OCOP products which are regional specialties of Hanoi and 21 provinces and cities across the country, the event attracted a large number of people to visit and shop...
Ms. Tran Thi Kim Xuan (in Xuan La ward, Tay Ho district) shared: "I see many regional specialties for sale that traditional markets do not have, such as: Ba Lang fish sauce (Thanh Hoa), Quang Ninh squid rolls... The products have OCOP certification and are inspected by the authorities, so I feel secure about food hygiene and safety". Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom (in Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district) also expressed confidence when shopping at the event. "This is an event organized by the city, so the products are quality controlled. There are many types of agricultural specialties and craft village products here. I especially like the products made from rattan and bamboo from Chuong My district. The baskets, trays, table cages... are woven very delicately", Ms. Thom said.
Not only does this event help consumers access good quality products, it also creates opportunities for businesses and cooperatives to expand their markets. Ms. Trieu Thi Thoa, a Dao ethnic, a member of the Nam Duoc Traditional Cooperative (Ba Vi commune, Ba Vi district) said: “Not only at the weekly sale, herbal products such as Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea, black xạ, and spoon soup... of the Cooperative sell quite well at events like this. After using them effectively, customers often come back to order many times.”
Meanwhile, Ba Vi Milk Joint Stock Company (Tan Linh commune, Ba Vi district) also brings many products that meet 3-star OCOP standards such as yogurt, milk cake... According to the representative of Ba Vi Milk Joint Stock Company, people are increasingly interested in the origin of products and OCOP certification has created strong trust for consumers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (in Cam Le district, Da Nang city) - who has a seaweed stall with 3-star OCOP certification said: "The capital market consumes very well. Every day, I sell 10 million VND in revenue. We are supported by the Organizing Committee with part of the booth rental cost and the media. The event is very practical for producers"...
Develop potential, spread brand
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Hanoi has a large agricultural development space, the scale of agricultural products is the highest in the country, with more than 153,000 hectares of rice, 34,000 hectares of vegetables, 24,700 hectares of aquatic products, 1.5 million pigs, 42.3 million poultry. Hanoi also has 1,336 active agricultural cooperatives, 1,574 farms, 172 production and consumption chains. In particular, Hanoi has 164 high-tech application models, more than 14,000 agricultural, forestry and aquatic products have been granted QR codes for traceability.
In addition, Hanoi also has 1,350 craft villages, accounting for 40% of craft villages nationwide - this is the "cradle" of potential for developing OCOP products. Regarding cuisine, Hanoians have many culinary processing secrets, many specialties with great economic value, creating a proud cultural identity. From 2019 to present, Hanoi has evaluated and classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the country); including 6 5-star products, 22 potential 5-star products, 1,571 4-star products and 1,718 3-star products, leading the country in the number of OCOP products.
In order to connect OCOP products and safe agricultural products with the market, in 2025, Hanoi will continue to implement many trade promotion events, notably the Week of Agricultural Products, OCOP Products and Craft Villages.
Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, said that the weeks will be held in many districts, towns and cities. Each week lasts 5 days, gathering hundreds of typical OCOP products not only from Hanoi, but also from many provinces and cities across the country... This is an opportunity for producers to promote their brands, exchange and learn, and at the same time, it is an opportunity for consumers to access unique products with quality certification.
It can be seen that through trade promotion activities, OCOP products and craft village products of Hanoi have the opportunity to be consumed more strongly, gradually forming a sustainable and selective inner-city consumer market. Effectively exploiting the consumption potential in the capital is not only a matter of economic development, but also contributes to preserving and promoting cultural values and local identity in the integration period.
