Help the poor settle down

Having a solid house is a legitimate desire of many people. However, it is not easy, especially for poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances. Understanding this, taking advantage of support from the Party and State to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; the Party Committee and People's Committee of Nam Ban commune have made efforts to help poor and near-poor households realize their dream of settling down.

Nam Ban commune actively participates in supporting people to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

“Even in my dreams, I never thought I would have a new, solid house like this. However, the dream has now come true. My family is very excited; thank the Party, the State and the local government for supporting my family,” Mr. Lo A Neo, Vi Ke village, Nam Ban commune, shared with us the joy of having a new house.

Mr. Lo A Neo’s family is a particularly poor household in the village with 3 members. Although they always work hard, because the main income of the whole family depends on a small amount of rice fields, their situation is very difficult; the house where the family has lived for decades has also deteriorated, but they do not have the conditions to rebuild. A solid house that can withstand storms is the great wish of his family.

Luckily, his family received 60 million VND from the State to build a new house; the Party Committee of Nam Ban commune mobilized cadres, commune leaders, militia and youth union to support the construction work. After 3 months of construction, the new house ensuring 3 hard (hard foundation, hard frame and hard roof) was completed and put into use in early May 2025.

Leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Meo Vac district and Nam Ban commune came to congratulate Mr. Lo A Neo's family in Vi Ke village on the inauguration of their new house.

Through screening, Nam Ban commune has 98 houses subject to temporary and dilapidated house removal (of which, 89 houses are under the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction, 3 houses are under the national target program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and 6 houses are under the program for temporary and dilapidated house removal launched by the Prime Minister). Currently, 78 houses have been started to be built, the commune is speeding up the construction progress of the remaining houses to help people settle down.

Eliminate the mentality of waiting and relying on others.

The entire Nam Ban commune currently has 373 households, 3,746 people, the poverty rate accounts for 49%, 100% are ethnic minorities (Giay, Mong, Tay, Dao ...). As a mountainous commune, with abundant forest land and natural food sources, the commune has identified livestock development as a suitable direction for the people.

To develop livestock farming effectively, Nam Ban commune has implemented many synchronous solutions, such as: Strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to change small-scale, spontaneous livestock farming practices, shifting to concentrated, disease-safe commodity livestock farming; proactively integrating support capital from national target programs and projects to support people's livelihoods; re-planning livestock farming areas suitable to the terrain, climate and soil of each village and hamlet. Organizing training courses, transferring scientific and technical advances in livestock farming to people; gradually promoting the building of local livestock product brands, aiming at traceability and connecting with stable consumption markets...

As one of the families that were previously in very difficult circumstances; however, after being propagandized, mobilized and guided by the commune officials, Mr. Pon A Soong's family in Na Tam village has risen to become a well-off household in the village from raising commercial black pigs. Thanks to the correct application of care techniques and disease prevention, the family's pig herd has always developed steadily. With experience and accumulated capital, he now raises about 30-35 pigs per batch. On average, each year selling pigs brings in a revenue of more than 120 million VND. Thanks to that, Mr. Soong's family has built a spacious concrete stilt house, and his children have better conditions to go to school.

“At first, I was very worried, but the commune regularly sent officials to guide me on care techniques, so the pigs grew healthier and healthier, and were sold at a profit, so now my family's economy is much better than before. I am very grateful to the local officials for their timely attention and encouragement,” Pon A Soong shared.

Up to now, the total livestock herd of the commune has reached nearly 6,000 heads, an increase of more than 400 heads compared to the same period in 2024. Many families have a stable income of 60 - 100 million VND per year thanks to livestock farming.

Mr. Hoang Van Huan, Chairman of Nam Ban Commune People's Committee said: "To help people improve their material and spiritual life; the local government closely follows the locality, cares, monitors and encourages households to effectively promote the capital, plants and seedlings supported; eliminates the mentality of waiting and relying on the Party and the State. At the same time, the commune also has orientations and propaganda for people to apply science and technology in production, choose plants and seedlings suitable for local soil conditions...".
