Thang Long-Hanoi Festival 2025: Many cultural activities lasting 16 days

With the theme “Heritage-Connection-Time”, Thang Long-Hanoi Festival 2025 was held for the first time in many typical cultural spaces of the capital such as: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ngoc Son Temple, Temple of Literature-Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum, Hoan Kiem Lake, with more than 30 unique cultural, artistic and tourism activities during 16 days (November 1-16).

The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the closing ceremony will take place on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.

At the press conference on October 21, Mr. Dao Xuan Dung, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Hanoi Party Committee, said: In the work programs, Hanoi always puts culture and people as the center of the development driving force of the capital, taking culture and people as the endogenous strength to develop the city sustainably.

“The Thang Long-Hanoi Festival 2025 aims to attract tourists and to properly implement the directive: Hanoi is not only a political center but also a cultural center. Hanoi culture is the crystallization and convergence of cultures from all regions of the country. At the same time, Hanoi's responsibility is to spread Hanoi culture to develop Vietnamese culture,” said Mr. Dao Xuan Dung.

Therefore, the Thang Long-Hanoi Festival 2025 aims to spread the image of the capital with a strong identity, representing Vietnamese culture, so that visitors feel that coming to Hanoi is coming to Vietnam, contributing to educating traditions, patriotism, and national pride through heritage and works of art.

Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, said this is an opportunity for Hanoi to demonstrate its spirit of integration, creativity and responsibility in preserving heritage - turning traditional cultural values into new inspiration for art, tourism and modern life.

At the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, visitors will experience a series of activities "Heritage Convergence" displaying traditional craft products of the three capitals (Thang Long, Hue, Hoa Lu) and the Central Highlands provinces; introducing Hanoi's culinary culture and flavors along with creative craft and design activities at Ho Van.

In addition, the following programs will also take place: Fashion show "Ao Dai on the heritage road"; Painting exhibition "Thanh Tan Hanoi"; Art program "Oh Hanoi"; Exhibition "Heritage and the future"; International scientific seminar on East-West educational and cultural heritage; Art program "Red River calls the great forest."

At the Hanoi Museum, the public will be able to visit the exhibition “Archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi relic” and the “Puppetry Solo” space - where the art of folk puppetry is renewed through performances and interactive experiences. In particular, the highlight of the international art program “Eternal Moments” with the participation of Swiss composer Dominique Barthassat and creative community groups in Hanoi.

Director Pham Hoang Nam said that the Thang Long-Hanoi Festival 2025 has many highlights that promise to bring domestic and foreign tourists interesting experiences imbued with the culture of the capital, mostly taking place on weekends.

This aims to build Hanoi into a city of festivals, a city with endless creativity and always bringing attractive things, suitable to the diverse and rich needs of tourists.

That is the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2025 (held annually for the 4th time) from November 7-9 at Hanoi Museum and Hoan Kiem Lake area with many activities honoring the beauty of traditional Ao Dai associated with the cultural and tourism values of the Capital.

There will also be the Hanoi Puppetry Festival and the discussion "Preserving and promoting the heritage of puppetry art in contemporary life"; the play "Thang Long Capital" and the program "Ngoc Son Mysterious Night."

In addition, the Festival also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the tug-of-war ritual and game being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, with the International Workshop "A Decade of Protecting and Promoting Tug-of-war Ritual and Game", along with exchange activities and tug-of-war performances with the participation of international delegations (Korea and some countries) and 10 heritage practicing communities from provinces and cities in the country (Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho and Hanoi)./.
