VIC hit the ceiling in a session when the stock market fell.

On May 19, VIC shares increased to the ceiling price, helping the market avoid a sharp decline in points amid the dominance of falling stocks.

On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, at the close of the session, the VN-Index stopped at 1,296.29 points, down 5.1 points (-0.39%); the VN30-Index fell 4.69 points (-0.34%), to 1,379.75 points.

The strong selling pressure caused stocks to decline in price to dominate. The entire floor recorded 216 stocks in red and 110 stocks in green. In the VN30 group, the number of stocks declining in price was 3 times higher than stocks increasing in price (22 stocks and 7 stocks).

Notably, out of the 10 stocks with the largest capitalization, 6 stocks decreased in price. Most industries decreased in points; in which, vehicles and components, telecommunications, software, and consumer services decreased by more than 2%.

On the other hand, hardware and real estate were two groups with outstanding developments with an increase of over 2%. In particular, in the real estate group, Vin's shares increased well. Of which, VIC increased to the ceiling. The code with the second largest capitalization in the market contributed more than 5.4 points, helping the VN-Index not to decrease sharply. Next was VHM with a contribution of nearly 0.8 points. Another Vin stock code, VRE, contributed 0.13 points.

On the other hand, VPL, VCB, FPT , LPB took away the most points.

Liquidity continued to reach over VND20,000 billion with over VND22,400 billion changed hands. Foreign investors were net sellers. This group bought VND2,579 billion and sold nearly VND3,141 billion.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, at the end of the session, the HNX-Index stopped at 217.24 points, down 1.45 points (-0.66%); the HNX30-Index was at 431.75 points after falling 3.65 points (-0.84%). The total transaction value reached 950 billion VND.
