Planting 1,500 trees along National Highway 1, Hanoi - Bac Giang section
On the morning of February 16 (the 7th day of Tet), Road Management Area I (QLDB), Vietnam Road Administration held a launching ceremony for "Tet tree planting following Uncle Ho's teachings, improving traffic safety in the spring of Giap Thin 2024" at Km131+00 on the left side of National Highway 1A, in Quang Chau ward, Viet Yen town, Bac Giang province.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Hung Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Road Administration, said that imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings and the Party's policies and the Government 's direction, every year, when Tet comes and spring comes, officials and workers of the transport sector join the people of the whole country in enthusiastically planting trees, afforesting, greening and creating a more beautiful landscape for each road.
In recent years, the emulation movement to plant trees on national highways has been constantly promoted, contributing to protecting the ecological environment, improving the sustainability of road slopes, preventing erosion along hillsides and mountainsides, guiding and improving traffic safety...
It is known that through research and analysis of the scene of some traffic accidents when vehicles crashed through the guardrail and plunged down the slope, if there were tall trees and a reasonable distance, a natural guardrail system could be created to help the vehicle not fall into the abyss, minimizing damage to people and vehicles.
Based on that reality, every year at the beginning of spring, officials of the Transport sector plant trees to ensure traffic safety on national highways.
After the launching ceremony, Road Management Area I coordinated with other units to plant about 1,500 trees of various types along National Highway 1, Hanoi - Bac Giang section.
More than 1,200 trees were planted along national highways through the North Central region.
The launching ceremony of the "Tet tree planting movement following Uncle Ho's teachings" was also held on the Ho Chi Minh trail, through Pho Chau town, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, Road Management Area II, together with Project Management Board 4 (Vietnam Road Administration) this morning.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Thanh, Director of Highway Management Area II, said that in recent years, every time Tet comes, Highway Management Area II and Project Management Board 4 have actively organized the movement "Tet tree planting, following Uncle Ho's teachings, improving traffic safety".
This is an annual activity, demonstrating the spirit and cultural beauty of the road transport industry, contributing to preserving and protecting the environment and is the opening task of the new year, creating a vibrant and widespread competitive atmosphere of labor production in agencies and units.
“Planting trees plays a very important role in the context of environmental pollution and global climate change that have seriously affected people's lives…”, Mr. Thanh said.
Road Management Area II, together with Project Management Board 4 (Vietnam Road Administration) has planted 1,265 more trees along national highways from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue.
Ms. Phan Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, said: Tree planting festival following Uncle Ho's call demonstrates the spirit of studying and following the example, morality, style and ideology of Ho Chi Minh.
For the road industry, planting trees on the road will create a natural guardrail system, helping to prevent vehicles from falling into deep ravines, rivers, lakes, and ponds, minimizing damage to people and vehicles in the event of an accident.
In addition to protecting the living environment, trees also contribute positively to protecting traffic infrastructure; help prevent slope erosion, road breaks when floods occur, rivers and streams rise; minimize damage caused by natural disasters and floods; have the effect of preventing wind and sand blowing on coastal and riverside roads; rows of trees create environmental landscapes, help vehicles navigate routes, create peace of mind and safety when driving, and ensure traffic safety.
The Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration also requested that after planting, the Highway Management Area II and Project Management Board 4 must regularly take care of all the trees so that they can live and thrive to achieve the desired results.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates, together with officials, workers and employees of the transport sector, simultaneously planted 1,265 trees along national highways managed by the unit in 6 provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.
Planting 200 acacia trees along National Highway 14G, blocking the road from the abyss
Also on the morning of February 16, the Vietnam Road Administration, Highway QLDB III coordinated with the Department of Transport of Da Nang City, the Traffic Police Department of Da Nang City Police and other functional units to plant trees to ensure traffic safety on National Highway 14G.

According to the records, the location where the trees were planted was an empty lot, below was a deep abyss about 30m. The organizing units planted 5 rows of trees along the route with a total of 200 acacia trees.

Speaking at the tree planting ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, said that in recent years, the state has invested in building and upgrading many expressways and national highways. In addition, the management, exploitation, maintenance and repair of traffic safety work have also received great attention.
"When choosing and planting good, suitable trees, it will help prevent erosion and limit serious traffic accidents," said Mr. Anh.
The Youth Union is the shock force, protecting and taking care of newly planted trees.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh also suggested that the QLDB III Zone continue to launch a tree planting movement on the routes managed by the unit. The Youth Union is the shock force to maintain and protect the trees that have been planted.
850 trees along 9 national highways in the southern provinces
On the same day (February 16), in Can Tho city, Road Management Area IV also held a ceremony to launch the Tet tree planting campaign.

At the ceremony, a representative of Road Management Area IV said that within the management area, there are 6 offices that will simultaneously launch operations.
This year, in Can Tho, trees will be planted along the road leading to Can Tho bridge, in Hung Phu ward, Cai Rang district.
"Last year, the launching ceremony was held in Lam Dong province with a total of 1,150 trees planted in various places, the survival rate is currently over 95%.
This year, the unit is preparing 850 trees to plant along 9 national highways," said a representative of Road Management Area IV.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Thang, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, added that Tet tree planting is a widespread mass movement, a beautiful traditional feature of our nation.
For roads, planting trees is even more meaningful as it helps reduce accidents and prevent landslides on slopes...", Mr. Thang said, noting that Road Management Area IV and management and maintenance units must ensure that each tree planted can grow.
Planting trees along Highway 1 on the road leading to Can Tho Bridge will create landscape and improve the environment in the future.
The Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration also said that the southern localities have two distinct seasons, dry and rainy. Therefore, the relevant units must regularly pay attention and take care of the trees so that they can grow and develop well.
