Big change, Quang Nam team no longer exists
On the afternoon of July 21, Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company held an urgent meeting, confirming the decision to dissolve the team and announcing the plan to merge the entire first team system, youth team, coaching staff and office staff into Da Nang Club. This move is explained as being aimed at avoiding overlap and dispersion of resources after Quang Nam province officially merged into Da Nang City from July 1, 2025.

Previously, the Quang Nam team had gone through a very difficult season and only successfully stayed in the V-League 2024 - 2025 after the last round. With a spectacular escape, the Quang Nam team has planned to prepare for the new season, registered to participate in the friendly tournament Thien Long Tournament - Thaigroup Cup 2025 (currently taking place at Tam Ky Stadium) and trial players. Therefore, the decision to disband has shocked experts and fans.
Waiting for VFF to hold urgent meeting when V-League started on August 25
After the announcement of the dissolution, the atmosphere within the Quang Nam team was gloomy. The trial players immediately left the training center, those whose contracts had expired were uncertain about their future, and those whose contracts were still valid did not know whether they would be retained after the merger. The coaching staff, including coach Van Sy Son and his assistants, all had expired contracts and were awaiting a decision from the Da Nang team.
A club leader shared: "We respect the choices of each individual. Those who want to continue will be considered, those who want to leave will be given the most favorable conditions possible." Notably, there were rumors that the team would change its name after selling its V-League spot, but Quang Nam FC denied it, affirming that it would continue to compete under its old name. However, the decision to dissolve shows that everything has changed after the administrative change.
Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company must urgently draft a document to submit to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) as well as Da Nang Club to officially announce the merger. Although they won the V-League championship in 2017, Quang Nam Club still could not avoid the fate of stopping for non-professional reasons. The team's dissolution is a regrettable ending, the team's participation in the V-League 2025 - 2026 is currently vacant, and there is no plan to transfer it to another unit. VPF recently conducted the draw for the new season but will now have to change the plan according to the final decision from the VFF Executive Committee. Either VFF will issue a document, requesting VPF to redraw with 13 clubs or will promote the losing team in the play-off match, Binh Phuoc, to replace Quang Nam. On August 15, the V-League will start, so all actions need to be carried out urgently.
History of Quang Nam Club
The predecessor was the Quang Nam - Da Nang Workers' Team, later changed to Quang Nam - Da Nang. When the province was separated in 1997, Quang Nam Club was established. The team won the second division runner-up in 2003; second division champion in 2008; first division champion in 2013; promoted to V-League in 2014; V-League champion in 2017; National Super Cup champion in 2017; National Cup runner-up in 2019. The team was relegated in 2020; promoted to V-League in 2023; and dramatically stayed in the league in the 2024 - 2025 season. On July 21, 2025, the club officially dissolved after merging with SHB Da Nang.
